Ji-hyeok Discovers the Truth and Feels Betrayed

The episode opened with Gong Ji-hyeok realizing that Kim Seon-u is not Da-rim’s husband as he had been led to believe. While the engagement ceremony with Yu Ha-yeong begins, Ji-hyeok is distracted by flashbacks to his first meeting with Da-rim. Just as he is about to place the ring on Ha-yeong’s finger, his mother collapses at the venue, forcing him to stop the event and rush her to the hospital.

In the car, his mother wakes up and reveals she was pretending to be ill. She noticed something was wrong and staged the collapse to stop the ceremony she knew her son did not truly want. This act of support from his mother becomes a turning point for Ji-hyeok, giving him space to confront his real feelings.

Back at the office, a comment from Ha-yeong makes it clear that Da-rim is single and has been lying. Ji-hyeok is deeply hurt by this revelation. He reacts by giving Da-rim an overwhelming amount of work, taking out his frustration on her. When she finally confronts him about his harsh behavior, he tells her bluntly that he knows the truth.

“When Ji-hyeok learns the truth about Da-rim, he feels relieved yet deceived and his unpredictable behaviour pushes her to confess everything.”

Da-rim’s Confession and Ji-hyeok’s Change of Heart

Fearing she will lose her job, Go Da-rim is consumed by guilt. Her situation becomes more difficult after a visit to her ill mother, who proudly praises Da-rim for her stable jobโ€”a comment that makes Da-rim’s deception feel even worse. Overwhelmed, she breaks down crying in the rain outside her home.

Ji-hyeok, who has been watching, quietly approaches her with an umbrella. He takes her inside, where a tearful Da-rim confesses everything. She explains that she fabricated the story about being a married mother solely to get the job and support her sick mother. She begs Ji-hyeok to let her keep working until she can find another position.

Hearing her full story and understanding her desperate circumstances, Ji-hyeok’s anger softens. He agrees to let her stay at the company until she can find her way. This moment marks a significant shift from his earlier coldness, showing his first step toward forgiveness.

A Love Triangle Intensifies and a Climactic Kiss

The emotional stakes are raised further when Kim Seon-u confesses his romantic feelings for Da-rim. This surprises Da-rim and leaves her confused about her own emotions. Ji-hyeok overhears this confession, sparking clear jealousy.

The rivalry between the two men spills into their professional lives. During a product promotion interview, both Ji-hyeok and Seon-u take subtle verbal jabs at each other, competing for Da-rim’s attention in front of the cameras.

The episode builds to its dramatic conclusion. As Da-rim tries to leave, Ji-hyeok stops her. In a decisive move, he pulls her close and kisses her. This kiss, far more intentional than their first impulsive one, closes the episode and signals a new, complicated chapter in their relationship.

A Fun Cameo from “One Dollar Lawyer”

Amid the central drama, Episode 9 featured a special and humorous cameo. Ji-hyeok’s mother hires two lawyers to handle her case with the Natural BeBe company. The lawyers turn out to be Chun Ji-hoon and Baek Ma-ri, the beloved characters from the hit K-drama One Dollar Lawyer.

The cameo provides a moment of levity. Chun Ji-hoon reveals his famously low fee, charging just 1,000 won (about one US dollar) for the case. Since he is working with Ma-ri, they will split the fee, meaning each will earn only 500 won for their services.
