The Fallout television show is moving at full speed. Just as Season 2 arrives for viewers, the team behind the Prime Video hit has shared plans to start filming Season 3 in the summer of 2026. This news shows a strong push to get new episodes to fans faster .

Executive producer Jonathan Nolan confirmed the target. He stated the goal is to begin production next summer, noting the show’s cast and crew work quickly to shorten the usual long wait between seasons . This plan comes as Season 2 begins its weekly release on Prime Video, shifting from the first season’s all-at-once binge model .

Season 3 Aims for Faster Production Cycle

Jonathan Nolan explained the thinking behind the accelerated schedule. He pointed to a common issue in modern television where gaps between seasons grow longer, which can cause a show to lose its connection with the audience .

โ€œI think whatโ€™s happened in television in terms of taking longer and longer from season to season is an unfortunate trend. You donโ€™t want the show to lose any of its scope, but we know that weโ€™d like to be back on the air as soon as we can,โ€ Nolan said .

The plan is to start shooting Season 3 in summer 2026. Nolan added a note of caution, saying, โ€œWeโ€™ll see if that all comes together, best laid plans and allโ€ . This schedule suggests that if filming begins as intended, new episodes could potentially arrive in 2027.

Writing for Season 3 is Already Underway

Work on the next chapter of the story has already started. Todd Howard, the director of Bethesda Game Studios and an executive producer on the series, confirmed that the writing process for Season 3 is active .

Howard also revealed that discussions are happening about how the TV show and the Fallout video games can work together. The teams are talking about elements from Season 3 that could be added to the games in a natural way when the season releases .

โ€œWeโ€™re having those conversations now of, what are we doing in Season 3 for the TV show and what elements can we bring into our games at that time when it comes out that donโ€™t feel forced or fake,โ€ Howard told Variety .

This collaboration is already happening. The recent Burning Springs update for Fallout 76 added missions featuring Walton Goggins’ character, The Ghoul, showing how the two mediums can connect .

Where Could Season 3 Take the Story?

With the show already exploring Los Angeles and now heading to New Vegas in Season 2, fans are curious about the next location. The show has the freedom to jump to different places and times within the Fallout universe .

Todd Howard hinted at this flexibility without giving specific details. When asked if the show might visit famous game locations like the Capital Wasteland or the Commonwealth, he chose not to spoil anything but highlighted the show’s unique opportunity .

โ€œThe show has an opportunity more so than a single game to pull things because we can jump locations, we can jump timelines,โ€ Howard teased .

This has led to fan theories about potential destinations. Some viewers on social media wonder if the story will head east to places like Washington D.C., which was the setting for Fallout 3 .
