Former THE BOYZ member Ju Haknyeon and Japanese adult star Asuka Kirara are at the center of a growing scandal involving allegations of prostitution. Both have strongly denied the claims, while legal actions and media controversies continue to unfold.

The Scandal Begins

The controversy started when Japanese magazine Shลซkan Bunshun reported that Ju Haknyeon met Asuka Kirara in Tokyo on May 30, 2025. Photos surfaced showing the two together in Roppongi, a popular entertainment district in Japan. In one image, Haknyeon, wearing a mask and hat, was seen hugging Kirara from behind. Another showed them walking arm-in-arm.

Rumors quickly spread that Haknyeon had paid Kirara for s*xual services, violating South Koreaโ€™s strict anti-prostitution laws. The allegations led to his sudden removal from THE BOYZ and the termination of his contract with agency ONE HUNDRED Label.

Ju Haknyeonโ€™s Response

Haknyeon denied all accusations in a handwritten statement on Instagram. He admitted attending a private gathering with Kirara but insisted no illegal activity took place.

“On May 30, 2025, it is true that I attended a private drinking gathering with an acquaintance and was present at that place. However, I want to completely deny that I have ever engaged in prostitution or any illegal activity as reported in the articles or rumors.”

He also claimed his agency forced him out of THE BOYZ without his consent. Haknyeon accused ONE HUNDRED Label of demanding 2 billion won (approx. $1.46 million) in damages and fabricating reasons to terminate his contract.

“The agency is attempting to fabricate grounds for termination despite no valid reason in my contract. They unilaterally expelled me from the team simply because I was at a private gathering with a well-known person.”

On June 20, Haknyeon filed a defamation lawsuit against TenAsia reporter Choi Ji Ye, who first reported the prostitution claims. His legal team argues the article was based on unverified sources and damaged his reputation.

Asuka Kirara Breaks Her Silence

Kirara, a former Japanese adult film actress turned influencer, also denied the allegations. On June 20, she tweeted:

“There are a lot of speculations going around, but the Shลซkan Bunshun article hasnโ€™t come out yet. Please donโ€™t spread false information. I have never once in my life engaged in paid s*x acts (prostitution) in private. Of course, this time too. A woman who was there for the first time seemed to like Haknyeon, so she had her photo taken and sold to Bunshun.”

She clarified that the leaked photos were taken without her full consent and sold to the media. Kirara has previously been linked to other celebrities, including Hey! Say! JUMPโ€™s Inoo Kei, but no scandal of this scale had emerged before.

Agencyโ€™s Stance and Fan Reactions

ONE HUNDRED Label defended its decision to terminate Haknyeonโ€™s contract, citing a breach of trust. The agency stated:

“We looked into the situation in detail and made the decision after informing Ju Haknyeon that the incident violated Article 6, Section 3 of his contract, which covers acts that damage the dignity of an artist.”

Fans and netizens had mixed reactions. Some supported Haknyeon, believing he was unfairly treated, while others criticized his judgment.

“Wowโ€ฆ I feel terrible for his fans. Did he even consider what this would do to his team?”

“He said he was โ€˜just there.โ€™ Yeah, right. Who does he think heโ€™s fooling?”

“If thereโ€™s no proof, why is everyone assuming the worst?”

Police Investigation and Legal Consequences

On June 19, an anonymous complaint was filed against Haknyeon at the Gangnam Police Station in Seoul, accusing him of violating South Koreaโ€™s Anti-Prostitution Act. If found guilty, he could face up to 1 year in prison or a 3 million KRW fine.

The case has also drawn attention to potential involvement from industry figures. The complaint requested an investigation into Producer B, a representative from Haknyeonโ€™s former agency, for possible involvement in brokering illegal activities.

THE BOYZ Moves Forward

Following Haknyeonโ€™s departure, THE BOYZ will continue as a 10-member group. Member Juyeon addressed fans, saying:

“We know how heavy and confusing today must have felt. Weโ€™re deeply sorry.”

Sunwoo also posted a message, vowing to reflect on past mistakes. The group has faced other controversies recently, including Sunwoo being accused of partying with underage influencers.

With lawsuits filed and police investigations underway, the scandal shows no signs of slowing down. Haknyeon remains determined to clear his name, while Kirara insists the allegations are false. The outcome could impact not only their careers but also how agencies handle future idol scandals.
