MBC’s Good Day, led by G-Dragon, wraps up its run on April 13, 2025, with a final episode filled with music, laughter, and touching moments. The show, which followed G-Dragon’s journey to create a meaningful song with a diverse cast, faced challenges after Kim Soo-hyun was edited out due to a personal controversy. Despite this, the finale promises to shine with live performances and surprises, leaving fans with a memorable close to the 2025 Good Day Project.

A Musical Journey Like No Other

Good Day kicked off on February 16, 2025, on MBC TV, with streaming on Disney+ and iQiyi in select regions. Produced by Kim Tae-ho, known for Infinite Challenge, the show followed G-Dragon, the Big Bang leader, as he brought together stars from different fields to craft a song for charity. The idea came from G-Dragon himself, who wanted to use music to spread positivity.

The show featured a unique format. G-Dragon worked with guests to turn their personal stories into music. Profits from the final song were set to go to charitable causes. Over eight episodes, viewers saw heartfelt moments, funny exchanges, and creative teamwork.

The final episode, airing April 13 at 9:10 p.m. KST, focuses on completing the group song. It includes live performances by well-known singers and contributions from the cast’s voices. Fans can expect a mix of emotion and energy as the project comes full circle.

Star-Studded Cast and Unforgettable Moments

The show boasted an impressive lineup. Regular members included Jo Se-ho, Jung Hyung-don, Defconn, and Code Kunst. Guests ranged from actors like Hwang Jung-min, Lee Soo-hyuk, Im Si-wan, Jung Hae-in, and Kim Go-eun to musicians like SEVENTEEN’s BSS unit, aespa, and CL. Chef Ahn Sung-jae and TV personalities Kian84 and Hong Jin-kyung also joined.

One highlight was G-Dragon’s reunion with Jung Hyung-don in the studio. It marked their first collaboration in 12 years since the Infinite Challenge Music Festival.

“Now we know why he’s G-Dragon’s guy!” the cast said, laughing after Jung Hyung-don’s funny vocal attempt at a “chill” vibe.

Another fan-favorite moment came from Hong Jin-kyung. Nervous at first, she shocked everyone with a freestyle rap.

“She’s really cool,” Hong Jin-kyung said about CL, who shone during the recording.

CL herself faced a funny challenge when Jung Hyung-don tried directing her, leading to laughter in the studio. Kian84, a big G-Dragon fan, also added charm with his enthusiasm.

The Kim Soo-hyun Controversy

Kim Soo-hyun, a guest in early episodes, was a key part of the “88-liners” segment with G-Dragon, Jung Hae-in, Im Si-wan, Lee Soo-hyuk, and Hwang Kwang-hee. Born in 1988, they bonded over shared experiences, boosting the show’s early ratings.

However, a scandal involving Kim Soo-hyun and the late Kim Sae-ron changed things. Allegations surfaced about a past relationship when Kim Sae-ron was a minor. Kim Soo-hyun’s agency denied the claims, stating any relationship began after she was 19. Still, public backlash grew.

The Good Day team faced criticism for airing Kim Soo-hyun’s scenes in episode 2, which hit 3.6% ratings after a 4.3% premiere. By episode 5, aired March 16, the team edited out his footage, making it 10 minutes shorter and leaving some gaps.

“We are truly sorry for upsetting our viewers who love Good Day and have decided that, moving forward, we will edit Kim Soo-hyun out of our prerecorded episodes as much as possible,” the producers said on March 17.

Episode 6, set for March 23, was replaced with a special I Live Alone episode for “reorganization.” From March 30, Kim Soo-hyun was fully removed. The April 6 episode showed no trace of him, even in group shots, though ratings dipped to 3.0% without him.

A Creative Finale with a Classic Twist

For the final song, G-Dragon chose two Urban Zakapa tracks, Telepathy and By the Moonlight Window, blending them into one. He coached the cast, like Jung Hae-in, to bring out their best.

“This is insane. He’s a true artist,” Hwang Kwang-hee said, amazed by G-Dragon’s skills.

The finale includes a charity auction of cast items and a group meal, tying the project together. Despite the challenges, G-Dragon stayed focused, posting a cryptic quote from Friedrich Nietzsche on March 29.

“When you gaze long into the abyss, the abyss also gazes into you. Creation is both the salvation from agony and the comfort in life. However, to create, one must endure personal suffering and face many changes. I am fate.”

Fans saw this as a nod to the show’s struggles but also his commitment to creativity.

What Fans Are Saying

Netizens had mixed feelings. Some missed Kim Soo-hyun, noting the ratings drop.

“The rating of Good Day dropped up to 1.3 after they removed Kim Soo-hyun, most people were watching due to him,” a fan posted on April 7.

Others praised G-Dragon’s leadership.

“G-Dragon’s artistry shines through, controversy or not,” one viewer wrote.

The show’s focus on music and friendship kept many hooked, with Hong Jin-kyung’s rap and CL’s talent trending online.
