The explosive season 2 finale of Gen V has dramatically reshaped the future of The Boys universe. The episode, which aired on October 22, 2025, not only concluded the story of Godolkin University but also directly set the stage for the final season of the main series and revealed new information about upcoming spinoffs, including The Boys: Mexico and Vought Rising.

The Finale’s Major Turning Point

The season 2 finale, titled “Trojan,” saw Marie Moreau and her friends finally defeat the powerful and manipulative Thomas Godolkin. In a key moment, Marie used her blood-manipulating abilities to destroy Godolkin after he was subdued by Polarity. This victory did not leave the group with much time to recover.

In the final scenes, as Marie, Jordan, Cate, and Sam found themselves on the run, they were approached by two unexpected figures from The Boys: Starlight and A-Train. The duo convinced the young supes to join their growing resistance movement against Homelander and Vought. This alliance seamlessly bridges the narrative between Gen V and the upcoming final chapter of the main series.

How Gen V Connects to The Boys Season 5

Eric Kripke, the showrunner for The Boys and co-creator of Gen V, confirmed that the fifth and final season of The Boys will pick up approximately six months after the events of the Gen V finale. Audiences will immediately get a sense of how the resistance led by Starlight has been faring.

“Youโ€™ll get a sense of this resistance that really kicks off at the end of โ€˜Gen Vโ€™ โ€” how itโ€™s been going โ€” when you pick up โ€˜The Boysโ€™ Season 5,” Kripke said. “And the spoiler is: Not well.”

While Marie has proven to be an incredibly powerful supe, Kripke was quick to manage expectations. He clarified that she is not a simple solution to the Homelander problem.

“Sheโ€™s super powerful, but that doesnโ€™t necessarily mean that sheโ€™s amazing at controlling it,” Kripke explained. “Sheโ€™s not Keanu at the end of โ€˜The Matrix.โ€™”

New Details on The Boys: Mexico Spinoff

Kripke also provided a significant update on the much-discussed spinoff, The Boys: Mexico. He confirmed that the project is actively in development, with showrunner Gareth Dunnet-Alcocer currently writing the scripts.

“It is still in the works. Gareth, whoโ€™s an amazing writer, is writing drafts right now. Itโ€™s in development. I think itโ€™s hilarious. But weโ€™ll see, itโ€™s going through the bumpy rapids of development,” Kripke stated.

A key revelation is the show’s placement in the timeline. The Boys: Mexico will be set after the events of The Boys Season 5, making it the next step in the franchise’s future. Kripke also expressed hope that certain characters from the original series could crossover into the new show as guest stars.

Updates on the Vought Rising Prequel

Another spinoff, Vought Rising, is further along in production. This prequel series, set in the 1960s, began filming in August 2025 and stars Jensen Ackles reprising his role as Soldier Boy and Aya Cash returning as Stormfront.

Kripke revealed a potential future connection to Gen V. He expressed interest in bringing actor Ethan Slater, who played the ancient supe Thomas Godolkin, into Vought Rising for a potential second season.

“If thereโ€™s a Season 2 of โ€˜Vought Rising,โ€™ we would definitely have him in as Godolkin. Iโ€™m so fascinated by that character, and to bring him in beside Frederick Vought, and seeing those two monsters work together, would be a blast.”

The Uncertain Future of Gen V Season 3

Despite the major setup for The Boys, the future of Gen V itself for a third season is not yet guaranteed. Kripke has been clear that the decision for renewal rests on season 2 viewership numbers. He confirmed that the creative team has a plan for a third season and is eager to make it, but the final call belongs to Amazon.

The producer urged fans to watch the new season on Prime Video as soon as possible, emphasizing that strong audience numbers are crucial for the show’s continuation. Early data from Nielsen showed promise, with the Gen V season 2 premiere achieving a larger streaming audience than any episode from its first season.
