The holiday season at Woodstone B&B is once again set for a supernatural shake-up. Ghosts is preparing to air its annual festive special, a two-part episode titled “It’s a Wonderful Christmas Carol,” on Thursday, December 18, 2025. This hour-long “Ghostmas” event will see the living and the dead navigating chaotic new possessions and a life-changing “what if” scenario.

For the characters, the special centers on a crucial moment for Sam Arondekar. She has a major Christmas Eve television interview to promote her new book, Isaac Higgintoot: Colonial Vampire, but the ghosts’ holiday antics threaten to derail everything.

Release Date, Time, and How to Watch

Mark your calendars for a special night of haunting holiday fun. The two episodes will air back-to-back, making a one-hour Christmas special.

  • Air Date: Thursday, December 18, 2025.
  • Broadcast Time: The special will air at 9:00 PM Eastern Time (ET) and 8:00 PM Central Time (CT) on the CBS network. Some sources note the show may start at its regular time of 8:30 PM ET, so viewers should check local listings.
  • Live Streaming Options: You can watch the episode live as it airs on CBS through the network’s official website or mobile app. Live TV streaming services like FuboTV, DirecTV Stream, and Sling TV that include CBS in their packages are also options.
  • Streaming on Paramount+: For most viewers, the easiest way to watch will be on Paramount+. The special will be available for streaming on the platform the day after it airs on CBS, Friday, December 19. You can watch it with either a Paramount+ Essential or Paramount+ with Showtime subscription.

What to Expect: Plot Details and a Major Twist

The special is split into two connected parts, each with its own synopsis that promises classic Ghosts humor with a festive twist.

Episode 9: “It’s a Wonderful Christmas Carol: Part One”
Sam’s important Christmas Eve TV interview with journalist Walter Storm (played by Larry Wilmore) takes a wildly unexpected turn. Meanwhile, Trevor finds a kindred spirit in the Puritan ghost Patience, as they bond over their shared lack of interest in the holiday cheer.

Episode 10: “It’s a Wonderful Christmas Carol: Part Two”
In a dramatic shift, Sam gets to see a version of her life where she never gained the ability to see the ghosts of Woodstone. This storyline is a clear nod to classic holiday films like It’s a Wonderful Life, offering a new perspective on her unique relationships.

A key tradition continues this year: another ghostly possession. While past Christmases have seen spirits like Nancy and Pete take over a living person, this year’s method of possession is something new. Actor Asher Grodman, who plays Trevor, teased the change, saying,

โ€œThe ghost shenanigans are at play in a new creative way. The way that we get to possessionโ€ฆweโ€™ve never used this as the way in before.โ€
Previews suggest the chaos begins when Thorfinn discovers he can control the Christmas lights, leading to an unfortunate and electrifying incident.

The entire main ensemble from Woodstone Manor is returning for the holiday special.

The Inspiration Behind the ‘Ghostmas’ Special

The title, “It’s a Wonderful Christmas Carol,” is a direct hint at the special’s inspiration. The writers have blended elements from two timeless holiday stories: It’s a Wonderful Life and A Christmas Carol. This mix allows the show to explore a “what if” scenario for Sam while keeping the playful, ghost-centered comedy fans love.

Adding to the festive set decoration, Asher Grodman also promised a spectacular “giant glorious gingerbread house” that he called a “work of art,” ensuring Woodstone will look the part for the holidays.
