The latest episode of Ghosts brought back a fan favorite alter ego and turned up the heat on Pete and Alberta‘s relationship. Season 5 Episode 15, titled “Michael Jackson Goes to HR,” aired on CBS on April 9, 2026. The episode delivered workplace chaos, relationship drama, and a major financial shock for Sam and Jay.
The half-hour comedy saw Jay Arondekar (Utkarsh Ambudkar) forced to revive his “Michael Jackson” persona to save Trevor Lefkowitz (Asher Grodman) from a human resources nightmare. At the same time, Pete Martino (Richie Moriarty) made the mistake of mentioning a visit to his ex-girlfriend, sending Alberta Haynes (Danielle Pinnock) into a jealous spiral.
Trevor’s HR Crisis Forces Jay to Become Michael Jackson Again
The trouble started when Trevor sent a strip-o-gram to his boss. While the gift went over well with the boss, it created serious problems with the Human Resources department. HR demanded to meet with Trevor in person in New York City.
Trevor asked Sam (Rose McIver) to explain the situation to Jay. Jay had already helped Trevor once before by pretending to be “Michael Jackson” at a work retreat. Initially, Jay refused to take the fall for Trevor again. But Sam confessed a difficult truth: their bed and breakfast was not making money, and they depended on Trevor‘s salary to stay financially stable.
Jay felt angry that Sam kept this information from him. But with no other choice, he agreed to represent Trevor in New York.
Jay walked into the HR meeting as Michael Jackson. The HR representative handed him a long list of complaints against Trevor. The strip-o-gram was just the start. Trevor had also been sending inappropriate messages to his female co-workers.
Jay managed to charm the HR representative and apologize on Trevor’s behalf. But things fell apart when Jay mentioned his mother. The HR person recognized him as Jay Arondekar, a chef who had appeared on a podcast called Todd‘s podcast. Because of this, Trevor got fired for identity theft.
Sam and the ghosts felt disappointed. But the bad news did not stop there. Jay and Sam soon learned that Trevor had not been paying his taxes. An angry Jay sat on Trevor as a form of revenge, setting up more trouble for the couple.
Pete and Alberta’s Relationship Hits a Rough Patch
The second story of “Michael Jackson Goes to HR” focused on Alberta and Pete. Alberta asked Pete, who can leave the property as a ghost, to visit Jamaica. She wanted him to track down some of her relatives.
Pete returned with exciting news. He met Alberta’s grandmother, Hortense, who is also a ghost. Alberta felt overjoyed at this discovery.
But the happy moment turned sour quickly. Pete casually mentioned that he also stopped by St. Lucia to visit his ex-girlfriend, Donna. Pete insisted it was just a friendly catch-up. Alberta did not see it that way. She felt offended and betrayed.
To get back at Pete, Alberta decided to spend time with Baxter, the shed ghost who once had a crush on her. She planned to make Pete jealous. But Pete said he did not mind as long as they were just friends.
The plan backfired when Pete saw Alberta laughing at Baxter‘s impressions. Pete snapped at Baxter and ordered him to return to the shed.
By the end of the episode, Pete finally understood Alberta‘s point of view. He promised not to see any of his ex-girlfriends again.
Financial Troubles Loom Over Sam and Jay
The episode also revealed a larger problem for the couple. Sam admitted that their B&B was not profitable. They had been relying on Trevor‘s salary to keep things running. Now that Trevor lost his job, the couple faces an uncertain financial future.
This news upset Jay, who felt hurt that Sam kept this secret. But the couple agreed to face the situation together.
