Go Yoon Jung, the star of Resident Playbook, has shared her hopes to appear in Hospital Playlist Season 3 if the show returns. The actress, who played first-year OB-GYN resident Oh Yi Young in the spin-off, expressed her willingness to reprise her role in the original series.
The finale of Resident Playbook aired on May 18, ending its run with the highest ratings of the series at 8.1% nationwide according to Nielsen Korea. During interviews, Go Yoon Jung was asked about a possible crossover with Hospital Playlist. She responded positively, saying, โIf Hospital Playlist Season 3 ever happens, I will appear.โ She added, โIf they call, I will do it.โ
Resident Playbook is a spin-off of Hospital Playlist, focusing on five young OB-GYN residents at Yulje Medical Centerโs Jongno branch. The show was delayed from its original May 2024 release due to a real-life medical strike in South Korea. Despite the challenges, it gained strong viewership and praise for its realistic portrayal of hospital life.
Fans of Hospital Playlist have been eagerly waiting for news about Season 3. Director Shin Won Ho previously hinted that the decision depends on audience demand. He said, โIt really all depends on the viewers. If we receive enough feedback, weโll consider it.โ The director also mentioned feeling pressure from both fans and actors to continue the story.
The original Hospital Playlist series follows five doctors who have been friends since medical school. The cast includes Jo Jung Suk, Yoo Yeon Seok, Jung Kyung Ho, Kim Dae Myung, and Jeon Mi Do. The show became one of the highest-rated Korean dramas in cable TV history.
Resident Playbook already featured cameos from Hospital Playlist characters, including Ahn Eun Jin and Kim Dae Myung, which excited fans. Many hope for more crossovers if Season 3 happens.
Go Yoon Jung also spoke about her co-stars, wishing for their characters to grow wiser in future seasons. She said, โI hope all the young doctors in Resident Playbook mature with time and experience.โ
