Hannah Waddingham has shared a major update on Ted Lasso Season 4, confirming that filming will begin soon. The Emmy-winning actress, who plays Rebecca Welton, revealed fresh details about the upcoming season, including new storylines and returning cast members.

Ted Lasso Season 4 Filming Starts Soon

Waddingham confirmed that Ted Lasso Season 4 is moving forward, with production set to begin in July 2025. She described the show’s return as a “beautiful resurrection,” comparing it to “exhuming a beloved dog.”

“We are going to be filming. And there’s going to be people in it. And footballs.”

The new season will see Jason Sudeikis return as Ted Lasso, now coaching a women’s soccer team, a major shift from the previous seasons. The storyline will explore Ted’s new challenges while keeping the show’s signature humor and heart.

Returning Cast and New Storylines

Most of the original cast will return, including:

  • Brett Goldstein as Roy Kent
  • Juno Temple as Keeley Jones
  • Jeremy Swift as Leslie Higgins
  • Brendan Hunt as Coach Beard

Waddingham hinted that her character, Rebecca, will be in a “far happier place” this season, with a possible love story in the works. Meanwhile, Ted’s journey will focus on his new role in women’s football and his personal life in Kansas.

Why Ted Lasso Season 4 Is Happening

Originally, Ted Lasso was planned as a three-season story, but its massive popularity led Apple TV+ to renew it. The show has won 13 Emmy Awards, including Best Comedy Series, and remains one of the platform’s biggest hits.

“It feels like it was the most beautiful, beloved dog that was buried, and now we’ve exhumed it, and I am here for it.”

Fans can expect the same mix of laughter, emotion, and football action, with fresh characters and deeper storylines.

When Will Ted Lasso Season 4 Release?

Filming begins in July 2025, with a likely early 2026 release. Previous seasons took about a year from filming to premiere, so fans may have to wait a little longer.

All three previous seasons of Ted Lasso are available to stream on Apple TV+.
