A first look at the upcoming K-drama, “Heavenly Ever After,” starring Son Suk Ku and Kim Hye Ja, has been released, offering a glimpse into their celestial reunion and the unique dynamic between the characters. The teaser hints at a heartwarming yet bittersweet story of love, loss, and second chances.

A Journey to Heaven

The teaser opens with a poignant scene on a subway, bathed in the warm light of the setting sun. Lee Hae Sook (Kim Hye Ja), lost in thought, wonders about the existence of heaven. The train then crosses the boundary between life and death, arriving at Heaven Station. This symbolic journey sets the stage for the couple’s reunion in the afterlife.

A Twist in the Afterlife

The teaser also showcases the reunion of Lee Hae Soon and her husband, Go Nak Joon (Son Suk Ku), who had passed away before her. In heaven, she encounters a younger version of her husband, creating an awkward yet touching situation. While he has established a life in this utopian realm, Lee Hae Soon feels out of place, as she remains aged while he is young. The image of her as an old kite while he is young, is striking and poignant.

Characters and Cast

Kim Hye Ja plays Lee Hae Sook, an 80-year-old woman who, after a sudden accident claims her husband’s life, becomes the sole support of her family. Upon her death, she ascends to heaven, anticipating a reunion with her beloved husband.

Son Suk Ku portrays Go Nak Joon, a devoted husband and mailman who passed away before his wife. In heaven, he patiently builds a dreamlike home, eagerly awaiting their reunion. However, the unexpected age difference creates a unique challenge for their renewed relationship.

The cast also includes Han Ji Min, Lee Jung Eun, Ryu Deok Hwan, and others. The drama is directed by Kim Suk Yoon, known for his work in dramas like “Radiant,” “Law School,” and “My Liberation Notes.”

Netflix has confirmed that “Heavenly Ever After” will be available sometime in April 2025. A still cut was also released along with the teaser.
