In a recent video shared to RAIN‘s Season B Season YouTube channel, HyunA addressed her “weight gain,” which the sunbae idol pointed out.
While reminiscing about the last time he crossed paths with HyunA, RAIN commented that she was “so skinny” back then. HyunA agreed and revealed that, at one point, she only weighed 40 kilograms (or 88 pounds).
RAIN: By the way, you’ve become even more gorgeous in the time we haven’t met.
HyunA: Who, me?!
RAIN: Yes, you.
HyunA: Well, I’ve gained a bit of weight…
RAIN: And you look incredible right now.
HyunA: Oh, really?
HyunA added that she would force herself to survive on a single piece—not even a whole roll—of gimbap, too, to maintain her slim figure.
RAIN: There was a time when I saw HyunA again for the first time in a while. And I wondered to myself, ‘How is that girl so skinny?!’
HyunA: Oh… Back then, I weighed 40 kilograms.
RAIN: What about- I’m sorry for asking, but what about now?
HyunA: [Hesitates]
RAIN: Right, okay. We’ll drop it here.
HyunA: Yeah, back then, I’d survive on a single piece of gimbap while pushing through all the scheduled activities. And that destroyed me. By 26, I was so unhealthy.
In addition, in a teaser for the upcoming episode of Point of Omniscient Interfere (also known as The Manager or Omniscient Interfering View), HyunA was spotted again talking about her past experience of starving herself.
Remember how I used to not eat at all? There was a time when I starved for a week, too…

She admitted that there were times when she simply did not consume food for weeks, which eventually worsened her vasovagal syncope and made her faint a dozen times in a single month.
Fortunately, HyunA seems to be doing better with eating and taking care of herself!
While HyunA refused to answer her current weight when RAIN complimented on her gain, the soloist admitted that she has been “happier” as of late…
All I ever wanted was to be good on stage, but [back then] I couldn’t put out my best work. That’s when I realized I was not happy. I started questioning if that kind of life was what I was actually pursuing. But starting last year, I think I’m starting to understand happiness more and more. I’m feeling content and grateful at the little things in life and realizing that’s all it takes to be happy.

…and her mental—leading to physical—transformation was also captured in her latest Instagram update of a dance practice.
