The Indian dance crew Unreal made history by winning judge Howie Mandel’s final Golden Buzzer on America’s Got Talent (AGT) Season 20. Their breathtaking performance on July 29, 2025, left the judges and audience stunned, securing their direct entry to the live shows.
Unreal’s Golden Buzzer Performance
Unreal, a seven-member dance group from Jaipur, Rajasthan, delivered a mesmerizing routine set to a remix of “Bairi Piya” from the Bollywood classic Devdas. Their act blended Tutting (a style creating geometric shapes with the body) and animation (robotic movements), forming a unique style called Tuttmation.
The group’s precision, flexibility, and storytelling through dance left the judges in awe. Howie Mandel, visibly impressed, called their act the best of the season before hitting the Golden Buzzer.
Howie Mandel said:
“We see dance crews. We see contortions. But to put it all together and to show us something in a way we’ve never seen before… You deserve everything. You deserve to be on your own season. You deserve to be taken all the way.”
Simon Cowell, known for his harsh critiques, was left speechless:
“I am slightly speechless, to be honest. I just thought it was so creative and brilliant and scary. I can tell how much work you must have put into this. This doesn’t happen overnight. You just got everything right. I love that. It was amazing.”
Unreal’s Journey: From India to AGT
Formed in 2018, Unreal previously competed in AGT Season 17 (2022) but didn’t advance past the deliberations. Before AGT, they won Dance India Dance Season 7, judged by Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor Khan, and appeared on Dance Plus 3.
Despite facing family pressure to pursue conventional careers, the group persisted. One member shared:
“In the beginning, it was very difficult for us as dancers because we had no support from our parents or anyone. They prefer for us to study and become a doctor or something else. But we chose to become dancers. Everybody has their dream to become superstars. AGT is the place where dreams can be realized.”
What’s Next for Unreal?
With the Golden Buzzer, Unreal bypasses further auditions and heads straight to the AGT Season 20 live shows, where viewers will vote for the winner. Their social media following has surged, with 263K Instagram followers and 13.9K YouTube subscribers.
Host Terry Crews praised them backstage:
“I would buy tickets to watch you perform. I think you’re going to take this all the way.”
Fans can catch Unreal’s next performances on AGT Season 20, airing weekly on NBC and streaming on Peacock.
