Prime Video has released the first full trailer for Invincible Season 4, confirming the superhero series will return on March 18, 2026. The trailer introduces the next major threat to Earth: a full-scale galactic war against the Viltrum Empire, led by its ruthless new leader, Thragg. Season 4 will premiere with three episodes on March 18, followed by one new episode weekly through April 22, 2026.

The new season continues the story of Mark Grayson, also known as Invincible, as he deals with the aftermath of last seasonโ€™s brutal battles. The world is trying to recover, and a changed Mark must protect his home and loved ones from a threat that could change humanityโ€™s fate forever. The series is based on the celebrated comic books by Robert Kirkman, Cory Walker, and Ryan Ottley.

Official Trailer Breakdown and Key Story Points

The official trailer for Invincible Season 4 shows Mark Grayson reuniting with his father, Nolan Grayson, formerly known as Omni-Man. After turning against the Viltrumites, Nolan returns to Earth with Allen the Alien, and they form an uneasy alliance with Mark to face the coming war. The trailer confirms the season will adapt the famous Viltrumite War storyline from the comics, a massive intergalactic conflict between the Coalition of Planets and the Viltrum Empire.

The footage also gives fans a first look at several new antagonists. Most notably, it reveals Lee Pace as the voice of Thragg, the Grand Regent of the Viltrum Empire. Thragg is described as fierce, cruel, and determined to restore his empireโ€™s glory by any means necessary. Creator Robert Kirkman has said the new season will be emotionally intense for the characters.

โ€œMark is on a journey to discover who he is. Thatโ€™s really the thrust of his story as he moves from adolescence into adulthood. I believe that at his core Mark is a good person, but as he growsโ€ฆ he may not always seem like a good person or a hero,โ€ said Kirkman.

New Cast Members and Characters Joining the Fight

Invincible Season 4 adds three major actors to its already star-filled voice cast. Alongside Lee Pace as Thragg, the season introduces Matthew Rhys as Dinosaurus and Danai Gurira as Universa.

Danai Gurira, known for her roles as Michonne in The Walking Dead and Okoye in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, joins the show as Universa. In the comics, Universa is an alien who arrives on Earth seeking to drain its energy to save her own dying world, which puts her on a collision course with Mark and Atom Eve. Gurira is another actor from The Walking Dead to join the Invincible universe, following series leads Steven Yeun and Lauren Cohan in earlier seasons.

Matthew Rhys will voice Dinosaurus, a genius scientist with a destructive alter ego who believes humanity must be partially destroyed to truly thrive. The character is expected to have a larger role in future seasons. The trailer also hints at the return of Clancy Brown as Damien Darkblood, with Kirkman confirming a new, original storyline for the character that he wrote specifically for the show.

Returning Heroes and the Road to War

The core cast of the series returns for the galactic conflict. Steven Yeun leads as Mark Grayson/Invincible, with Sandra Oh as his mother Debbie and J.K. Simmons as his father Nolan/Omni-Man. Key heroes like Gillian Jacobs as Atom Eve, Zachary Quinto as Robot, and Seth Rogen as Allen the Alien are all back.

The season will explore the strained relationship between Mark and his father as they are forced to work together. Nolan, now a traitor to his own people, and Allen are shown recruiting allies from across the galaxy to prepare for the final battle. The story will also follow the continued adventures of Atom Eve and the remaining Guardians of the Globe as they face threats on Earth.

Following the devastation of the previous season, the showโ€™s world is in a fragile state. The official logline states the story picks up as the world recovers from catastrophe, with a changed Mark fighting for his home. The first episode is titled โ€œYou Gave Me No Choiceโ€ and is set to premiere on March 18.

How to Watch and Series Success

Invincible Season 4 will be available to stream exclusively on Prime Video in more than 240 countries and territories worldwide. The first three episodes of the eight-episode season will be released together on March 18. Subsequent episodes will follow a weekly schedule every Tuesday.

The series has been a major critical and commercial hit for Prime Video. Season 3 was the most-watched animation season ever on the platform and received Primetime Emmy Award nominations. The show holds a near-perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes across all its seasons. The success has already led to an early renewal for Invincible Season 5, which was announced in July 2024.

The upcoming season aims to raise the stakes with larger battles and more personal struggles for its characters. Kirkman has noted that while the show follows the comics closely, Season 4 will include new elements and surprises even for fans familiar with the source material. The season promises to blend the large-scale spectacle of a galactic war with the grounded, emotional story of a young hero becoming an adult.
