Something About 1% actress Jeon So Min recently shared her unique journey after leaving SBS’s popular variety show Running Man, revealing that she took up a part-time job at a cafe during a transitional period in her career. Speaking on Ji Suk Jin’s YouTube channel, Jee Seok Jin World, on December 13, 2024, Jeon So Min opened up about rediscovering her motivation while facing career uncertainty.
Transition After “Running Man”
During the interview, Jeon So Min reflected on her post-Running Man career and her concerns about finding work in a challenging entertainment industry. She shared:
“Fortunately, I was able to pick up some projects relatively quickly after leaving ‘Running Man’. I went into a movie in about 3–4 months. I then filmed two short films before I was cast in ‘Sorry Not Sorry.’”
Despite these opportunities, Jeon admitted to experiencing anxiety about her future. She explained:
“To be honest, I was really worried at the time. I didn’t have any immediate projects I was working on, and the future seemed uncertain. Because the film and drama industries are not doing well right now, I wasn’t sure how I could survive without ‘Running Man’.”
Part-Time Cafe Job
To fill the gap and regain her footing, Jeon So Min took on a part-time job at a cafe owned by someone she knew. The cafe was located in a building housing Channel A and Studio Dragon, which often brought in customers from the broadcasting and film industries.
According to Jeon, many customers mistook her presence at the cafe for a filming project, frequently asking her if she was shooting something. She revealed:
“The cafe owner asked me not to wear a mask or a hat to help boost revenues. But I still got paid the same hourly wage as everyone else.”
Despite the unusual circumstances, Jeon expressed her gratitude for the experience:
“It was fun. I worked part-time at a cafe for a long time when I was 29 years old. It made me think of that age again, when I was still chasing after my dream. I gained energy from the experience.”
Current Projects
Jeon So Min has since returned to the screen, co-starring alongside Choi Daniel in the KBS Joy drama, ‘Sorry Not Sorry’. The drama marks another milestone in her acting career, reaffirming her dedication to exploring diverse roles and storytelling.
