Jo Bo Ah Breaks Silence on Postponed Kim Soo Hyun Drama ‘Knock-Off’; Shares Excitement for New Series ‘Tangeum’ (Dear Hongrang)

Actress Jo Bo Ah recently opened up about the delay of her Disney+ series Knock-Off amid co-star Kim Soo Hyun’s ongoing scandal. She also shared details about her upcoming Netflix historical drama Tangeum (Dear Hongrang), marking her first project since marriage.

Jo Bo Ah spoke carefully about Knock-Off, which has been postponed indefinitely due to controversies surrounding Kim Soo Hyun. The actor faced allegations of involvement with the late Kim Sae-ron when she was a minor, as well as pressuring her over debts. Kim Soo Hyun denied these claims in a tearful press conference.

“I’m being very careful. What I say might hurt someone, so I’d like to hold back a bit,” Jo Bo Ah said. She expressed hope that the hard work put into Knock-Off would eventually be recognized.

Instead of Knock-Off, Jo Bo Ah will return to screens with Tangeum, a mystery melodrama set in the Joseon era. The story follows Hong Rang, a long-lost heir who returns with no memory, and his half-sister Jae Yi, played by Jo Bo Ah, who suspects his identity.

Filming for Tangeum wrapped in May last year, before Jo Bo Ah got married. She reflected on how her life has changed since then. “I was single when we filmed, and now I’m married, so it feels different. Watching it now, it feels like a younger Jo Bo Ah is on screen.”

The actress also shared her experience filming a historical drama, including wearing traditional hanbok and layered costumes in winter. “It was fun. Wearing hanbok and traditional hairstyles suited to the time period was enjoyable. In the middle of winter, I wore five layers of fleece pants while filming—it was intense!”

Meanwhile, Knock-Off remains in limbo as Kim Soo Hyun’s scandal continues to impact his projects. No official updates have been given on whether the series will resume production or be canceled.
