Ju Haknyeon says he never agreed to leave THE BOYZ or end his contract. The idol faces police investigation over prostitution claims while accusing his agency of unfair treatment.

Former THE BOYZ member Ju Haknyeon has publicly denied his agencyโ€™s announcement that he left the group and terminated his contract. He also rejected allegations of illegal activities, including soliciting prostitution. A police report has been filed against him, escalating the legal battle.

On June 20, Haknyeon posted a lengthy statement on Instagram. He claimed ONE HUNDRED, THE BOYZโ€™s agency, forced him out without his consent. The agency had earlier stated he left due to “private life issues” after reports linked him to a meeting with former Japanese adult actress Asuka Kirara.

Haknyeon admitted attending a private gathering in Tokyo but denied any wrongdoing. He said the agency demanded โ‚ฉ2 billion KRW (about $1.45 million USD) in penalties and pressured him to leave. He called the move unfair and vowed legal action.

โ€œHello, this is Ju Haknyeon. Despite my clear position that I have not committed any illegal act, I will take legal action, civil and criminal, against reporters and media outlets who continue to write malicious articles.

If there is evidence of prostitution, please disclose it to me immediately. Also, I have never left the team and have never agreed to the termination of my exclusive contract.

The agency is making it seem like there is a reason for termination of the contract, even though there is no reason for termination, and some media outlets are defaming me by mentioning prostitution without any basis.

The agency demanded compensation of over โ‚ฉ200 million KRW (about $145,000 USD) and told me to leave the company, but I have never accepted it. Regardless, they announced to the press that the termination was confirmed.

I want to ask whether the agencyโ€™s attitude of trying to unilaterally remove me from the group and urge me to terminate my contract by demanding over โ‚ฉ200 million KRW (about $145,000 USD) just because I was with a famous person in a private setting is the attitude of an agency that should be protecting the artist.

When I refused to accept the termination of my contract, they sent me a certified mail stating that the contract was terminated due to my fault, ignoring the procedures stipulated in the contract, and warned me about compensation for damages.

Honestly, I am really scared. But if I give up here, this society might become a place where people who have nothing can fall for things they didnโ€™t do.

I have silently endured this so far, believing the truth will come out. However, when someone attempts to bury people under the pretext of something that didnโ€™t happen, I can no longer remain silent.

I want to hold accountable the agency that unfairly kicked me out and insisted on terminating my contract without any basis, and the media outlets that mentioned prostitution without confirmation.

Regardless, I will go all the way to reveal the truth. I am taking the courage, hoping this fight can give someone a little hope.โ€

The controversy started when Japanese tabloid Shukan Bunshun reported Haknyeon met Asuka Kirara at a Tokyo bar in late May. Some media outlets later claimed he paid for s*xual services, which he strongly denied.

On June 19, an anonymous person filed a police report via South Koreaโ€™s e-People portal. The complaint accused Haknyeon of violating anti-prostitution laws, even if the alleged act happened in Japan. South Korean law punishes citizens for such acts abroad.

The case is now with the Gangnam Police Stationโ€™s Women and Juvenile Crime Investigation Team. No formal charges have been filed yet. Haknyeon insists there is no proof of illegal activity.

“If there is evidence of prostitution, please disclose it immediately. I will take legal action against those spreading false claims.”

ONE HUNDRED responded by saying Haknyeon violated his contractโ€™s Clause 6-3, which covers behavior damaging to a public figureโ€™s image. They called his claims “one-sided falsehoods” and threatened legal action of their own.

Fans and netizens are divided. Some support Haknyeon, questioning the agencyโ€™s harsh penalties. Others believe the scandal harms THE BOYZโ€™s reputation.

“If he only went to a gathering, why kick him out? The agencyโ€™s actions seem extreme.”

“The company should protect their artist unless thereโ€™s solid proof. This looks suspicious.”

Haknyeonโ€™s case follows other K-pop scandals, including NCT Taeilโ€™s recent court trial for s*xual assault. The industry faces growing scrutiny over idolsโ€™ off-stage behavior.
