Brett Dier, known for his role as Michael Cordero in Jane the Virgin, has shared his thoughts on the legal feud between his former co-star Justin Baldoni and actress Blake Lively. The dispute began after Lively accused Baldoni of sexual harassment during the filming of their movie It Ends With Us.

Dier called the situation “really intense” in an interview with Fan Mail. He expressed support for Baldoni, saying, “I probably shouldn’t say much, but I’ll say this: I always loved Justin.” He added, “Justin has always been an amazing friend to me. I’m just hoping everything resolves in time.”

The legal battle started in December 2024 when Blake Lively filed a sexual harassment complaint against Baldoni. She claimed he created a hostile work environment and caused her “severe emotional distress” during filming. Baldoni denied the allegations and countersued Lively, her husband Ryan Reynolds, and her publicist Leslie Sloane for $400 million, accusing them of spreading false information to damage his reputation.

Baldoni and Dier worked together on Jane the Virgin from 2014 to 2019. Dier played Jane’s first husband, Michael Cordero, while Baldoni played her love interest, Rafael Solano. Despite the show ending years ago, Dier remains close with some cast members. In August 2024, he attended a screening of It Ends With Us with Yael Grobglas, who played Petra on the show.

Grobglas praised Baldoni’s film on Instagram, writing, “Our genius friend @justinbaldoni made a phenomenal film. I cried an embarrassing amount and tried to hide it but probably failed.” She posted a photo with Dier, adding, “I am so proud of you, and I love you, friend !!!!” Baldoni responded, “This makes my heart burst. I love you both so much.”

The conflict between Baldoni and Lively reportedly began during filming. Sources claim there were disagreements over creative decisions, including editing choices. Lively allegedly pushed for her own version of the film, while Baldoni’s cut reportedly tested better with audiences. The tension escalated into legal action, with both sides making serious accusations.

Ryan Reynolds’ legal team has asked the court to dismiss Baldoni’s defamation lawsuit. His lawyers stated, “The entirety of Mr. Baldoni’s case appears to be based on Mr. Reynolds allegedly privately calling Mr. Baldoni a ‘predator.’ The complaint doesn’t allege that Mr. Reynolds did not believe that statement to be true.”

Baldoni’s attorney, Bryan Freedman, claims Reynolds played a bigger role in the dispute. He accused Reynolds of pressuring talent agency WME to drop Baldoni as a client and participating in a “smear campaign” against him. The trial is scheduled for March 9, 2026.

Meanwhile, other Jane the Virgin stars have shown support for Baldoni. Gina Rodriguez, who played Jane, called him her “brother forever” in a September 2024 interview. She said he was the cast member she stayed in touch with the most.

The feud has drawn significant attention in Hollywood. Some celebrities, including America Ferrera and Amber Tamblyn, have publicly supported Lively. Others, like Dier and Grobglas, have stood by Baldoni. The case continues to develop as both sides prepare for trial.
