The upcoming romance film Love in the Big City has recently unveiled its new character posters and an engaging trailer, giving fans a glimpse into the unique dynamics between Kim Go Eun and Noh Sang Hyun. Adapted from Park Sang Young’s bestselling novel, the movie tells the story of two very different roommates navigating their friendship and views on love.

A Tale of Unlikely Roommates with Contrasting Views on Love

In Love in the Big City, Kim Go Eun plays Jae Hee, a free-spirited woman who lives boldly, without worrying about societal expectations. On the other hand, Noh Sang Hyun portrays Heung Soo, a man who prefers solitude and has a strong aversion to romance. Despite their similar daily routines, their perspectives on love couldn’t be more different. The pair, however, share a deep bond, highlighting the strength of their 13-year friendship.

The tagline on the newly released posters reads:

“The one person who taught me that it’s enough for me to be exactly the way I am.”

This line underscores the depth of their friendship, showcasing how Jae Hee and Heung Soo have found comfort in each other’s company.

Trailer Highlights: Friendship, Conflicts, and Love

The newly released trailer provides a peek into the past and present lives of the two roommates. It opens with a flashback to Jae Hee’s college years, where her love life becomes the talk of the town. Despite facing rumors and societal judgment, Jae Hee stays confident and carefree. In one scene, she tells Heung Soo:

“So what? It’s enough that you know the truth. Rather than spending time worrying about things like that, I’d rather use that time to try doing all the things I can possibly do.”

As they settle into their cohabitation, Jae Hee and Heung Soo set clear rules for their living arrangement, but their clashing perspectives on love surface when they attempt to advise each other on romantic matters. Even though their differences lead to arguments, their bond stays strong. A touching moment in the trailer shows Jae Hee reassuring Heung Soo, saying:

“No matter what anyone says, I’m always on your side!”

However, tensions rise when Heung Soo, in a moment of frustration, interrupts Jae Hee, snapping:

“Who are you to understand me?”

The trailer concludes with a poignant exchange, where Heung Soo asks, “Are we weird?” Jae Hee’s defiant response, “No. Not at all!” hints at the enduring resilience of their relationship.

Love in the Big City Premiere and Film Festival Recognition

Love in the Big City is set to premiere on October 1, 2024, following its debut at the 49th Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) on September 13, 2024. The film has been selected for the Special Presentations lineup, a category that highlights notable new works from renowned directors and actors. This prestigious category has previously featured acclaimed films such as Bong Joon Ho’s Mother and Parasite, as well as Park Chan Wook’s The Handmaiden.

Fans of Kim Go Eun and Noh Sang Hyun can expect a heartfelt, introspective look at relationships, friendship, and love in this much-anticipated film.
