Actor Kim Ji Hoon recently opened up about a difficult period in his career when he took a three-year break from acting. He shared his story in a heartfelt conversation on actress Kim Jung Nanโ€™s YouTube channel. The video, uploaded on August 6, 2025, revealed how he faced financial struggles, health issues, and deep frustration during this time.

Kim Ji Hoon explained that after gaining fame in weekend dramas, he wanted to try different roles in movies and other types of shows. However, the industry only saw him in one way, making it hard for him to break free from that image.

“I believed I could do well, but no one else seemed to think so. Because of that, I ended up not working for almost three years,” he said.

Financial Struggles and Lost Hope

During his break, Kim Ji Hoon faced serious financial problems. He used up all his savings and felt hopeless about his future.

“The biggest problem was that I had no idea when or how things would get better,” he admitted.

He also shared how his agency kept promising new projects that never happened. One day, he saw a news article announcing another actor had been cast in a drama he was hoping for. That moment broke him completely.

Health Problems Caused by Stress

The stress of waiting and constant rejection took a toll on his health. He experienced severe headaches so painful that even touching his head hurt.

“For the first time in my life, I wondered if I had something serious like a brain tumor,” he said.

At first, he tried to use his free time productively by traveling, reading, and exercising. But after months of disappointment, he found it hard to focus.

Gaming Became His Escape

Unable to cope with the stress, Kim Ji Hoon turned to gaming. He didnโ€™t plan it, but playing games helped him forget his problems.

“It acted like my antidepressant. I played one game for a year straight. It helped me survive,” he confessed.

Despite his struggles, he still managed to date during this time, which made Kim Jung Nan laugh. She told him his experience was normal and necessary for growth.

Coming Back Stronger

Looking back, Kim Ji Hoon now sees this difficult period as an important part of his journey. Kim Jung Nan agreed, saying actors need such challenges to improve.

“Thatโ€™s why your acting has gotten even better,” she told him.

After his hiatus, Kim Ji Hoon returned to acting with new projects. He is set to appear in Netflixโ€™s “Crime Scene Zero,” the drama “Will It All Come True,” and tvNโ€™s “Yammy Love.”
