South Korean actor Lee Jung Jae, riding high on the success of Squid Game season 2, has once again been the subject of rumors about joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Here’s a breakdown of what we know so far:

Lee Jung Jae’s Agency Denies MCU Offer

Lee Jung Jae’s management company, Artist Company Creative Artists Agency, has denied recent reports claiming the actor is in talks for an MCU role. This comes after speculation swirled online following a December 30th, 2024, report by X (formerly Twitter) account MyTimeToShine and entertainment news website Comicbookmovie.com.

Details of the Rumored Offer Remain Unclear

The reports from MyTimeToShine and Comicbookmovie.com provided no details about the specific character or storyline Lee Jung Jae was allegedly approached for. They did claim that Marvel boss Kevin Feige expressed interest in working with the actor, potentially offering him a choice from a selection of roles.

Previous Rumors of MCU Involvement

This isn’t the first time Lee Jung Jae has been linked to the MCU.

  • In 2024, rumors emerged that he might portray the supervillain Mr. Negative in a Spider-Man film, but these rumors eventually faded.
  • In 2022, reports surfaced suggesting discussions between Lee Jung Jae and Marvel Studios for a potential MCU role. There were also whispers about him playing the main villain in Shang-Chi 2, but his agency remained silent on the matter.

Lee Jung Jae Not the First Korean Actor in the MCU

If Lee Jung Jae were to join the MCU, he wouldn’t be the first Korean actor to do so. Claudia Kim appeared in Avengers: Age of Ultron, Ma Dong Seok starred in Eternals, and Park Seo Joon is set to appear in The Marvels.

Squid Game Season 3 Rumors

The recent MCU rumors arrived just four days after the release of Squid Game season 2. There are also unconfirmed reports suggesting a potential season 3 premiere date in 2025, but this has not been officially confirmed.
