Linda Hamilton Joins Stranger Things 5, But Won’t Watch It

The Terminator star reveals why she feels like an imposter in the hit Netflix series

Linda Hamilton, the actress who played Sarah Connor in the Terminator franchise, has confirmed that she will be joining the cast of Stranger Things 5, the final season of the popular Netflix sci-fi drama. However, she also admitted that she won’t be watching the show once it airs, as she feels like she doesn’t belong in the world of Hawkins.

Hamilton made the announcement during Tudum, a global fan event hosted by Netflix in Brazil, where she expressed her excitement and nervousness about being part of the show. “I don’t know how to be a fangirl and an actress at the same time,” she said in a video message. “I’m gonna work on that.”

Linda Hamilton is a long-time fan of Stranger Things

Linda Hamilton revealed that she has been a fan of Stranger Things since the first season, and that she loves the show’s 80s nostalgia, characters, and storylines. She said that she was surprised and honored when the creators of the show, Matt and Ross Duffer, approached her for a role in the final season.

“I Zoomed Ross and Matt Duffer, and they gave me the shape of the character, but not of the story,” she said in an interview with US Weekly. “Because they have to be very careful with their story. So I still don’t know how it ends. And it takes a lot of discipline to not know where it’s going to go. But that’s to protect it from all of the people that want to know.”

Linda Hamilton did not reveal any details about her character, or how she will interact with the main characters of the show, such as Eleven, Mike, Dustin, Lucas, Will, Max, Steve, Nancy, Jonathan, and Hopper. She only said that she is having a good time working on the show, and that she gets to be part of the table reads and watch the scenes unfold.

Hamilton won’t watch the show after joining the cast

Despite her enthusiasm for being part of Stranger Things, Hamilton also confessed that she won’t be able to enjoy the show the way she used to, as she feels like an imposter in the show’s universe. She said that she never watches her own projects, as it would ruin the illusion for her.

“I think in a way, it kind of ruined the show for me. I never watch [a project], once I’m in something,” she said. “It would just completely take me out of the reality of it to see myself in there. So I won’t be watching [Season 5].”

Hamilton is not the first actor to admit that they don’t watch their own work. Other celebrities who have said the same include Johnny Depp, Nicole Kidman, Tom Hanks, Emma Stone, and Leonardo DiCaprio.

Stranger Things 5 will be the final season of the show

Stranger Things 5 will be the last season of the show, according to the Duffer brothers, who have said that they have planned the ending of the show since the first season. They have also teased that the final season will answer some of the biggest questions about the show’s mythology, such as the origin and nature of the Upside Down, the mysterious experiments conducted by the Hawkins Lab, and the fate of Eleven’s powers.

The Duffer brothers have also promised that the final season will be the most epic and emotional one yet, as the characters will face their biggest challenges and threats, both from the supernatural and the human world. They have also hinted that not everyone will survive the final showdown.

Stranger Things 5 does not have a release date yet, but it is expected to premiere sometime in 2024. The production of the show is currently underway in Atlanta, Georgia. The show stars Millie Bobby Brown, Finn Wolfhard, Sadie Sink, Gaten Matarazzo, Caleb McLaughlin, Noah Schnapp, Winona Ryder, David Harbour, Natalia Dyer, Maya Hawke, Joe Keery, Charlie Heaton, Jamie Campbell Bower, and more.
