Navika Kotia, known for her role in Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai and as Sridevi’s on-screen daughter in English Vinglish, has called off her engagement to Pune-based entrepreneur Mazen Mody. The couple got engaged in January 2026 and were planning to marry the following year. Reports confirm the relationship ended in early July 2026 due to compatibility issues. Mazen Mody is now in a relationship with actress Ritika Badiani.
The Engagement That Ended Quietly
Navika Kotia and Mazen Mody’s engagement was an arranged match. The two were introduced through a mutual friend and had known each other for about a year before their families discussed marriage. Navika shared in an earlier interview with HT City that Mazen’s mother called her mother during Diwali 2025 to ask for her hand in marriage. “I have always wanted my parents to take the call for my marriage, this was the perfect fit,” she had said.
The roka ceremony took place in November 2025, and the engagement followed in January 2026. Navika announced the news on Instagram with a proposal video, and the couple performed the gol dhana ceremony, a pre-wedding ritual. They exchanged rings and had planned to tie the knot in 2027.
The breakup came in the first week of July 2026, but the news surfaced publicly in October 2026. Navika has since removed all engagement photos from her social media account. A source close to the couple told Times of India that the decision was mutual.
“It was an arranged match. They had performed the gol dhana ceremony in January and were planning to tie the knot next year. However, they started facing issues and realised they were very different from each other. So they decided to part ways. There is no negativity surrounding the breakup, and they have both moved on.”
TellyChakkar reported that the engagement was called off about six months ago, citing “compatibility, priorities and expectations from life” as the reasons. Mazen Mody later confirmed the split in a statement.
“The decision was taken mutually. Our priorities in life are different, and we were not able to match each other’s rhythm.”
Mazen Mody Is Now Dating Ritika Badiani
Following the breakup, Mazen Mody has moved on with actress Ritika Badiani. Social media updates from Mazen show the two together, and Ritika has also shared posts that confirm the relationship. In one post, Mazen reportedly wrote, “Ritika Badiani, 8.32 billion people, countless paths, and somehow our paths collided”.
Ritika Badiani, born on October 17, 2001, in Porbandar, Gujarat, is an actress known for her work in films such as Airlift (2016), 10 Kalpanakal (2016), and the Netflix film Chaman Bahaar (2020). She began her career as a child actor in television commercials before moving into films. Before her link to Mazen, Ritika was rumoured to have dated TikTok personality Manjul Khattar, though those reports were never confirmed.
Navika Kotia’s Acting Journey
Navika Kotia started her acting career as a child artist at the age of six. She appeared in television shows such as Kasamh Se, Baa Bahoo Aur Baby, Saat Phere, and Balika Vadhu. She gained national recognition for playing Sapna Godbole, the daughter of Sridevi’s character, in the 2012 film English Vinglish.
After taking an eight-year break to focus on her studies, Navika returned to television in 2022 with Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai, where she played the grey character Maya “Mau” Khera. She later took on her first lead role as Kesar in Kyunki Saas Maa Bahu Beti Hoti Hai. She was also seen in the Amazon miniTV web series School Friends for three seasons. Her brother, Shivansh Kotia, is also an actor.
