The new Little House on the Prairie reboot is officially coming to Netflix on July 9, 2026. The streaming service has already renewed the series for a second season before the first episode even airs. Here is the complete guide to every actor and character bringing this classic story back to life.
The Ingalls Family
Alice Halsey plays Laura Ingalls, the strong-willed young heroine at the center of the story. Viewers may recognize Halsey from Lessons in Chemistry, where she played Madeline Zott. She was just seven years old during that role and is now ten, the same age Melissa Gilbert was when she originated the part on television. Halsey describes Laura as observant, tender, and hot-tempered. The character loves running barefoot, questions authority, and collects details about the world around her for stories she will someday tell .
Skywalker Hughes takes on the role of Mary Ingalls, Laura’s older sister and complete opposite. Mary follows rules, stays quiet, and studies hard. She prefers reading poetry and sewing indoors rather than exploring outside. Hughes says the character is always angling to be the good daughter and the ladylike one. The relationship between Mary and Laura is best friends one moment and mortal enemies the next, but they always protect each other in the end .
Luke Bracey portrays Charles Ingalls, the father of the family. Bracey has appeared in Hacksaw Ridge, Elvis, and Little Fires Everywhere. Charles is described as ruggedly handsome, charming, and an optimist who always sees the glass half full. He is a farmer, trapper, carpenter, and artist who won his wife’s heart by carrying her three miles through snow to a winter dance .
Crosby Fitzgerald plays Caroline Ingalls, Laura’s mother. Fitzgerald’s credits include Palm Royale and Crime 101. Caroline married Charles out of true love, not convenience. She gave up her teaching career to raise a family but never lost her desire for independence. The show portrays her marriage as one of equals, something rare for the 19th century .

Warren Christie plays John Edwards, a Civil War veteran from Tennessee. Christie describes the character as gregarious and mysterious. He catches the attention of every single woman in the county .

Wren Zhawenim Gotts takes the role of Good Eagle, the daughter of Mitchell and White Sun. Gotts appeared in Echo. Good Eagle is wildly imaginative and known as the storyteller in her family .
Xander Cole plays Little Puma, White Sun’s younger brother. Little Puma is goodhearted but bullheaded. He loves his big sister but also loves getting under her skin .
Thosh Collins portrays Louis, White Sun’s levelheaded cousin. Collins has appeared in Reservation Dogs .

Barrett Doss plays Emily Henderson, who runs the general store. Doss starred in Station 19. Emily excels at interacting with people and handling numbers. She kindly takes in an orphan boy named Caleb .
Mary Holland portrays Jemma James, the wife of Eli James. Holland appeared in Nightbitch and Senior Year. Jemma is confident, has an air of big city life, and serves as the town’s busybody .
Michael Hough plays Eli James, Jemma’s husband. Hough appeared in Chapelwaite. Eli works for the railroad and supports newcomers arriving in the area .

Kowen Cadorath takes the role of Caleb, a preteen orphan who does not say much. Cadorath appeared in SkyMed. Emily Henderson takes Caleb in and gives him a job at the general store .
