The wait is almost over for fans of the unique Shonen Jump+ manga series Marriage Toxin. The upcoming anime adaptation has officially locked in its premiere window, and it is coming sooner than you think. The production team behind the series has confirmed that Marriage Toxin will arrive in April 2026, and they backed up the announcement with a brand-new trailer and a lengthy list of new cast members joining the project.
The anime, which is being produced by the renowned studio BONES Film (known for My Hero Academia and Gachiakuta), dropped its first proper promotional video and main visual in mid-December 2025. - Asaki Yuikawa as Shiori Ureshino: A shy college student and heiress to a major corporation. Yuikawa noted, “Because of her father’s death and the enormous pressure… Shiori often finds herself spiraling into negative thoughts. But at her core, she’s an incredibly hard-working girl.”
- Soma Saito as Genya Naruko: A handsome descendant of the Sound Master lineage. Saito mentioned, “As someone who has long enjoyed this series as a reader, being able to participate as the voice of my favorite character is truly a joy.”
- Hinano Shirahama as Kimie Arashiyama: A Hamster Master and secret admirer of Gero. Shirahama stated, “It is truly a privilege to be involved in such a fun and wonderful series!”
- Simba Tsuchiya as Piichi Nakagawa: A genetic anomaly with abilities beyond a normal Master. Tsuchiya observed, “To me, Piichi Nakagawa is a character who embodies ‘love’ itself — someone who carries both kindness and madness within him.”
These new cast members join the previously announced Haruka Shiraishi (as Akari Gero) and Isamu Yusen (as Toshiki Hanamaki).
What is Marriage Toxin About?
For those unfamiliar with the source material, Marriage Toxin offers a premise that is as bizarre as it is entertaining. The story follows Hikaru Gero, the heir to the Poison Masters, one of the five great families of assassins known as the “Masters.” Gero has lived his entire life in the shadows, far removed from romance. His world is turned upside down when the head of his family decrees that his sister must bear an heir to continue the bloodline—by force if necessary.
To protect his sister, Gero decides he must marry instead. The problem? He is an elite hitman with zero social skills, especially around women. During an assassination job, his target turns out to be Mei Kinosaki, a brilliant and cunning marriage swindler. Impulsively, Gero spares her life and asks for her help in finding a wife.
This kicks off the world’s most dangerous marriage hunt. With the con artist Mei as his advisor, the elite assassin Gero must navigate the treacherous world of dating while battling other deadly Masters from the underworld. The official synopsis teases, “To win love, you’ve got to play with poison. A high-stakes mission for the ultimate duo begins!”
The Creative Team Bringing It to Life
The Marriage Toxin anime is in very capable hands. Directed by Motonobu Hori (Carole & Tuesday), the series boasts a strong creative lineup. Kimiko Ueno (Astro Note, Delicious in Dungeon) is handling the series composition and scripts. Music is being composed by Taisei Iwasaki (Belle) and yuma yamaguchi (Metallic Rouge). Kohei Tokuoka is the character designer and chief animation director, ensuring the unique look of the manga translates well to the screen.
The animation production is led by BONES Film, a division of the legendary studio BONES, with 3D CG services provided by Sanzigen and art by studio Bihou.
