Prime Video has finished filming the third and final season of the hit series Maxton Hall – The World Between Us. This announcement on December 1, 2025, comes with the first look photos from the set, giving fans a peek at the last chapter for Ruby Bell and James Beaufort. The news confirms the show will reach its emotional conclusion with this season. The German-language drama, which became a global streaming hit, will now move into post-production.
What to Expect in the Final Season’s Story
The official story for the new season starts with the main character in a very difficult position. Ruby is on the edge after being suspended from Maxton Hall College. All the evidence seems to show that James is the person responsible for getting her expelled. This situation is a major problem that puts Ruby’s big dream of going to Oxford University in serious danger. It also creates a severe test for their love.
While Ruby and James will do everything they can to save her graduation, the people around them will get caught in what is described as an “emotional whirlwind”. The season will explore how Ruby and James painfully realize their worlds are very far apart, and that not everything is as it seems. The big question for the season is whether their love and friendships can survive these enormous storms while “the shadows of the past grow darker”.

The Road to the Final Season and Fan Reaction
The show’s journey to a third season was confirmed back in June 2025, five months before the second season even premiered. The show’s stars, Harriet Herbig-Matten and Damian Hardung, shared the happy news with fans in a video on Instagram. In the video, Hardung said, “One last time, back to school,” which hinted that the third season would be the end of the story.
This makes sense because the third season is based on Save Us, the third and final book in author Mona Kasten’s popular series. The show’s head writer and executive producer, Ceylan Yildirim, talked about the process of adapting the final book. She mentioned it was a challenge to review the characters’ actions and sometimes redefine parts of the book for television.
“By respecting the original storyline, while adding further layers to the narrative in consultation with Mona Kasten and our partners at Amazon, we hope to continue to delight both fans of the books and our global streaming audience in fresh and exciting ways in the third season,” said Ceylan Yildirim.
Fans of the show, often called “Ruby-James lovers” online, have been very excited and emotional about the news that filming has finished. On social media, comments on Prime Video’s posts show people are already asking for a release date and expressing their hopes for the characters. Some fans have even started joking about wanting a “BEAUFORT CINEMATIC UNIVERSE” of spin-offs, though no such plans currently exist.
When Can You Watch Maxton Hall Season 3?
While Prime Video has not yet announced an official release date for the final season, there is a clear pattern that points to a likely timeframe. Season 1 of Maxton Hall was released in 2024, and Season 2 premiered in 2025. Following this yearly schedule, it is widely expected that Season 3 will arrive sometime in 2026.
Many reports suggest the new season could come in the mid-to-later part of 2026. The completion of filming in December 2025 gives the production team several months for editing, music, and other post-production work before the episodes are ready for viewers around the world.
