Mike McLusky is making his move. After a season of being pushed around, the power broker of Kingstown is openly telling people he plans to send Frank Moses to prison for good. This bold declaration sets off a chain reaction of escapes, betrayals, and deadly consequences in the seventh episode. With his brother Kyle still trapped in Anchor Bay, Mike is playing a dangerous game, manipulating the city’s warring factions against each other. The episode, titled “My Way,” reveals a major character’s likely death, a shocking prison break, and a recovering Bunny learning a painful truth.
Mike’s Dangerous Game with Frank Moses and the Cartel
Mike McLusky’s strategy is simple but risky: get his enemies to destroy each other. His main goal is to protect his brother Kyle and create an opening to get him out of prison. To do this, he is playing Frank Moses, the “King of Detroit,” against the powerful Colombian cartel that has infiltrated the prison system.
Mike visits Frank Moses, who is in protective custody after a cartel hit attempt. Mike lies to Moses, telling him it was the cartel that shot their mutual ally, Bunny. He then feeds Moses key information: the date, time, and location of the cartel’s next major drug shipment coming into Anchor Bay. Moses takes the bait and attacks the shipment, stealing the drugs and burning the truck.
This move serves Mike’s plan perfectly. The attack makes the cartel furious, and they turn their anger on Warden Nina Hobbs, who is forced to work for them. When the cartel’s enforcer, Cortez, confronts Hobbs at her home and threatens her daughter, she panics and blames her deputy, David Torres, for the security failure. Mike had quietly suggested this exact outcome to Hobbs earlier, successfully redirecting the cartel’s violence away from his own ally, CO Kevin Jackson, and onto Torres.
Mike tells Warden Hobbs: “Someone has to take the fall for the lost shipmentโฆ someone who’s not you.”
Meanwhile, Mike makes a formal deal with prosecutor Evelyn Foley. He offers her the biggest prize of her career: a conviction of Frank Moses. In exchange, he wants all charges dropped against Kyle, Ian, and the unstable detective Robert Sawyer. Mike believes trapping Moses legally is the only way to secure his brother’s freedom without starting an all-out street war.
Ian’s Final Solution for Robert Sawyer
One of the episode’s darkest storylines involves Detective Robert Sawyer. Consumed by grief and anger, Robert has completely broken down. He blames Mike McLusky for every problem in his life, from his failing marriage to his shattered career. His instability has become a major liability for Mike and his right-hand man, Ian.
Robert meets with Ian and outright suggests they should kill Mike McLusky. Ian immediately reports this to Mike, who understands that Robert is now a loose cannon who knows too much about their illegal activities. Mike strongly implies that Ian needs to “take care of” the problem Robert represents.
Ian then takes Robert to a bar, gets him extremely drunk, and drives him home. He places the unconscious Robert in the driver’s seat of his own car in the garage, starts the engine, and closes the garage door, allowing the space to fill with deadly carbon monoxide fumes. Ian leaves, staging the scene to look like a suicide.
The episode does not show Robert’s death confirmed, but the situation appears fatal. This act marks a new level of moral corruption for Ian, showing how far he and Mike will go to protect their operations in Kingstown.
Merle Callahan’s Shocking Escape from Anchor Bay
In a stunning display of his reach, white gang leader Merle Callahan escapes from Anchor Bay prison as easily as “clocking out for lunch”. His escape is set in motion because of Mike’s own deal-making.
Mike had pressured Warden Hobbs to move Callahan from restrictive Administrative Segregation (Ad Seg) into the general prison population. Before leaving Ad Seg, Callahan stops at Kyle McLusky’s cell. He again pressures Kyle to join the Aryan Brotherhood for protection, singing “Take Me Home, Country Roads” and cryptically stating he can “walk through walls”. Kyle refuses, choosing to remain independent despite the dangers.
Once in general population, Callahan’s allies create a distraction. He then hides in an empty food trolley and is wheeled right out of the prison. His escape is shockingly smooth, raising serious questions about the control Warden Hobbs and David Torres actually have over the facility.
Callahan warned Kyle he would “say hello to Mike” when he saw him. Now free, he represents a new and immediate threat to Mike outside the prison walls. Analysts suggest Callahan might target people close to Mike, like Kyle’s wife Tracy or Mike’s friend Cindy, to get his revenge.
Bunny Awakens and Learns the Truth
After hovering near death, gang leader Bunny finally wakes up in the hospital. He immediately wants revenge against whoever tried to kill him. Mike arrives and delivers the hard truth: the man who ordered the hit was not the cartel, but his new business partner, Frank Moses.
Mike reveals that Moses views Bunny as his main rival for control of Kingstown’s streets and wants to eliminate him to take over his territory and his crew. Bunny is ready for an immediate, violent war, but Mike persuades him to wait.
Mike outlines his new plan with prosecutor Evelyn Foley. He wants Bunny to help him gather solid evidence against Moses to put him in prison legally. Once Moses is behind bars in Anchor Bay, where Bunny has significant influence, then Bunny can have his final revenge. This approach also serves Mike’s goal of getting his brother Kyle released as part of the deal with Evelyn.
Warden Hobbs Under Pressure and CO Breen’s Brutality
Warden Nina Hobbs is caught in an impossible situation. She is being forced to cooperate with the cartel, which now threatens her and her family directly. After the attack on the drug shipment, the cartel’s violent enforcer, Cortez, ambushes her in her own home. He explicitly threatens her daughter’s life if she does not give up the name of who compromised the operation. Terrified, she immediately names David Torres.
The episode also checks in on the corrupt and brutal prison guard, CO Breen. Now working at Anchor Bay, Breen is recognized by an inmate from his past. Fearing exposure, Breen savagely beats the inmate, slamming his face into the cell bars until he is bloody and unconscious. This act of violence in front of other guards marks Breen as an escalating problem within the prison.
