Megan Fox is setting the record straight about her unconventional engagement ritual with musician Machine Gun Kelly (MGK) in 2022. The actress, who recently confirmed the couple’s broken engagement, addressed the blood-drinking act that sparked widespread curiosity and even rumors.
Blood and Broken Engagement
In 2022, Megan Fox and MGK sent shockwaves through the internet when their engagement announcement included a line about “drinking each other’s blood.” This unusual detail fueled speculation about the couple’s relationship and even led some to believe Fox dabbled in Satanism.
However, in a recent appearance on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast hosted by Alex Cooper, Megan Fox shed light on the blood-sharing ritual. She emphasized that it wasn’t meant to be a literal act of bloodletting, but rather a symbolic gesture between her and her then-fiancé.
Love Ritual, Not Satanic Ceremony
Fox compared the blood-drinking to childhood friendships where kids might pledge loyalty by pricking their fingers and touching the blood together. She highlighted the double standard, pointing out that such childhood rituals are seen as innocent, whereas her act with MGK was deemed strange or even evil.
“Honestly, though, it’s a matter of perspective,” Fox said on the podcast. “What is so gross about what I did with my soulmate…?”
She further distanced herself from any connection to Satanism, stating, “I have never done anything satanic.”
Fox Referenced Classic TV Show to Explain Blood Ritual
To illustrate her point, Fox referenced the 1950s sitcom “Leave It to Beaver,” where childhood blood pacts were depicted as a symbol of friendship. She argued that her act with MGK was similar, just with a slightly more mature expression – a drop of blood instead of touching fingers.
“That’s not satanic, right? That’s normal and that’s cute and sweet…It’s like that, except instead of rubbing your fingers together, the drop of blood goes in your mouth,” Fox explained.
The actress ultimately condemned those who were “offended” by the couple’s blood ritual, calling it a “bizarre” perspective.
A Look Back at Megan Fox and MGK’s Relationship
The blood-sharing incident wasn’t the only thing that turned heads about Fox’s relationship with MGK. Their connection sparked immediate interest when they began working together on the film “Midnight in the Switchgrass” in 2020. Director Randall Emmett even remarked on the couple’s undeniable chemistry, describing it as a “magical aura.”
Shortly after filming wrapped, Fox and MGK officially announced their relationship on Instagram in July 2020. Their romance progressed quickly, culminating in the much-talked-about blood-drinking engagement two years later.
However, despite their strong initial bond, Fox confirmed on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast that the engagement is off. While the future of their relationship remains uncertain, Fox expressed a belief in their connection, referring to MGK as her “twin flame.”
