Min Hee Jin, the influential producer behind K-pop sensation NewJeans, has vowed to “fight with all might” against her sudden dismissal as CEO of ADOR, a subsidiary of HYBE Corporation. In an exclusive interview, Min Hee Jin revealed that her removal was not discussed with her and was a violation of her shareholder contract. She intends to set a precedent to prevent such actions from occurring again.
On August 28, 2024, just a day after her resignation was announced, Min Hee Jin disclosed that she is organizing her next steps, determined to challenge the decision. She emphasized that the dismissal went against a prior court ruling that prevented HYBE from removing her as CEO. Despite the board’s decision, she was kept in the dark until the last moment. In her statement, she expressed concerns that if unchallenged, similar dismissals would become more common within the industry.
Min Hee Jin also noted that while she will continue to work with NewJeans as an in-house director, this decision was also made without her input, further fueling her resolve to contest HYBE’s actions. The former CEO is gearing up for what she describes as a “life and death” battle to protect her position and ensure such practices do not continue unchecked.
