A Story of Swapped Souls
Moon River is a historical fantasy drama set in the Joseon era. The plot centers on a crown prince named Lee Kang, played by Kang Tae-oh. He is a man burdened by grief and revenge after losing his wife, and he hides his pain behind a careless public image. The other main character is Park Dal-yi, played by Kim Se-jeong. She is a clever and cheerful commoner who works as a merchant but suffers from amnesia.
The story takes a magical turn when the souls of the prince and the commoner suddenly swap bodies. This forces the prince to experience life as a villager, while the commoner must navigate the dangerous politics of the royal palace. As they live each other’s lives, they begin to uncover hidden conspiracies and find a connection that might be deeper than they first thought.
Kim Se-jeong shared her excitement about the project, stating:
โThe idea of a soul-swapping romance really intrigued me, and after learning that Kang Tae Oh would be my co-star, I became even more confident and more interested in the storyโs concept.โ
The People Behind the Drama
The series features a strong supporting cast that adds depth to the story. This includes Lee Shin Young as Prince Yi Woon, the king’s deposed firstborn son, and Hong Su-zu as Kim Woo Hee, the daughter of a powerful and ambitious official. Jin Goo plays the main antagonist, Left State Councillor Kim Han Cheol, a man who will stop at nothing to control the throne.
The production of Moon River is led by director Lee Dong-Hyun and writer Jo Seung-Hee. The drama was originally scheduled for an October 2025 release but was postponed for a week due to a broadcast conflict with the Korea Baseball Organization playoffs.
