New and Returning Shows to Watch
The Fall and Rise of Reggie Dinkins
This new comedy series stars Tracy Morgan as a disgraced former football star trying to repair his public image with the help of an award-winning filmmaker, played by Daniel Radcliffe. The show is executive produced by Tina Fey. It will have a special one-hour premiere on February 23 before settling into its regular 30-minute timeslot the following week.
The Voice: Battle of Champions
The 29th season of The Voice features a major format change and a coaching panel made up entirely of past winners: Kelly Clarkson, John Legend, and Adam Levine. For its first week, the show will air three two-hour episodes on February 23, 25, and 26. After that, it will return to its regular one-hour episodes on Mondays starting March 2.
The Hunting Party and More
The buzzy procedural drama The Hunting Party is officially back for its second season on Thursday, January 8. The show follows a team tracking down the world’s most dangerous criminals. Other returning favorites include the game show The Wall, hosted by Chris Hardwick, which features contestants with extraordinary real-life stories, including a national hero from 9/11 and a firefighter who adopted a newborn.
Major Sports Events in February
NBC is calling February “Legendary February” due to three major back-to-back sports events that will dominate its programming schedule.
- The Milan Cortina Winter Olympic Games begin with the Opening Ceremony on Friday, February 6 and run through the Closing Ceremony on February 22.
- Super Bowl LX will be broadcast from Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California, on Sunday, February 8.
- The NBA All-Star Game will air from the Intuit Dome in Inglewood, California, on Sunday, February 15.
These events mean that regular entertainment programming will be pre-empted for much of the month, leading to the launch of the new Monday night lineup after the Olympics conclude.
