After a long break, NCIS finally returned on March 3 with an episode fans have been waiting for. Season 23 Episode 10, titled “Her,” brought back Emily Wickersham as Ellie Bishop and finally showed Jessica Knight taking on her first mission with the elite team . The episode answered big questions while leaving the door open for more drama.
Knight’s First Elite Mission Targets a Familiar Face
The episode picked up right where the mid-season finale left off. Knight finally got the call she had been waiting for—her first assignment with NCIS: Elite . But the target was someone she knew personally. Her orders were to track down and arrest Bishop, who was now labeled a wanted cyber-terrorist .
For Knight, this mission felt wrong from the start. She knew Bishop had left the team years ago to go undercover. She also knew Bishop had taken the fall for something bigger back then. Now the government believed Bishop was stealing classified files and selling them out . The evidence looked bad, but Knight trusted her gut.
Bishop Breaks Into Torres’ Apartment
While Knight worked the case, Bishop was already in town. She broke into Nick Torres’ apartment looking for a place to print a photo . Longtime fans caught the small details—she went straight for his hidden Twinkies, a callback to their close friendship before she left .
When Torres came home, he knew someone had been there. He found an open window and a printed photo of himself eating an apple fritter. The photo confused him because he had no memory of it. McGee recognized it right away. Bishop had taken that picture years ago when Torres was hypnotized .
The clues told Torres one thing—Bishop was back and she needed help.
The Truth About Bishop’s Team Comes Out
Knight finally told Torres and McGee about her real mission. She explained that Bishop was a fugitive and she had to bring her in. But before they could do anything, Knight found Torres handcuffed in his own apartment. Bishop was there, and she was ready to talk .
Bishop revealed what really happened. Her black ops team was working in Ukraine when their location got hit. Two of her teammates died. The Department of Defense mainframe got hacked, and someone leaked classified information. The blame fell on her .
But Bishop believed someone on her own team sold them out. She was protecting the only teammate she had left, a man named Jonathan Lin. She also revealed that Jonathan was her legal husband—but only on paper, for the mission .
This was the first time Torres and Bishop had seen each other face to face since she left in 2021 . She admitted she was scared back then. She was afraid if she said goodbye, Torres would ask her to stay, and she would have said yes .
Finding the Real Mole
With Torres and Knight on her side, Bishop worked to clear her name. They discovered that a fourth team member named Patricia Kovach was still alive. Everyone thought she died in Ukraine, but she had survived and sold out her team to the Russians .
Patricia came after Bishop and Jonathan, but Torres had planted a bug on Bishop earlier. The team tracked her location and arrived in time to save them both . Patricia got arrested, and Bishop finally had proof she was innocent.
The Airport Goodbye and That Kiss
With her name cleared, Bishop had to leave for another mission. Torres drove her to the airport. Before she boarded the plane, she asked him to come with her .
Torres thought about it for a moment. Then he said, “For now, my place is here” .
He explained that he made a promise to his team. He had to protect what they built together. Bishop understood. She knew they were both living the lives they chose .
Then they kissed. It was a moment fans had waited years to see .
Wilmer Valderrama, who plays Torres, said the moment leaves things open. “Is it the closing of our chapter, or is it the opening of a new one?” he asked in an interview . Emily Wickersham agreed, saying their paths are “intertwined” and this is not goodbye forever .
Wickersham also said she loves the NCIS family and is “always open to more” cameos in the future .
What This Episode Means for Knight
For Knight, this mission tested her loyalty. She had orders to bring in someone she believed was innocent. She trusted her instincts and worked with her team instead of against them. The episode showed why she belongs in NCIS: Elite—she can handle pressure and make the right call when it counts.
Katrina Law continues to bring depth to Knight, balancing her tough skills with real emotion. This episode gave her room to grow while keeping the focus on the team dynamic.
