Fans of classic murder mysteries have a new date to mark on their calendars. Netflix has confirmed its new Agatha Christie adaptation, Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials, will premiere on January 15, 2026. The three-part series, written by Broadchurch creator Chris Chibnall, brings a lesser-known Christie novel to the screen with a star-studded British cast.

The Story Behind the Mystery

The series is set in 1925 England at a lavish country house party. The story begins when a practical joke goes horribly and murderously wrong. The investigation falls to the unlikeliest of sleuths, the young and intensely curious Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent, who must unravel a complex plot that promises to change her life. The official synopsis describes it as a “witty, epic and fast-paced drama” that cracks open the classic country house mystery.

The story is based on Agatha Christie’s 1929 novel, The Seven Dials Mystery. In the book, the mystery kicks off when a practical joke involving eight alarm clocks ends in tragedy after one clock goes missing and a healthy young man is found dead.

Meet the Sleuths and Suspects

The series features some of Britain’s most recognized acting talent alongside rising stars.

Leading the cast as the tenacious young investigator Lady Eileen “Bundle” Brent is BAFTA Rising Star winner Mia McKenna-Bruce. She is joined by Helena Bonham Carter, who plays Lady Caterham, and Martin Freeman as Superintendent Battle.

The ensemble cast also includes several other notable actors. Corey Mylchreest of Queen Charlotte fame plays Gerry Wade. Edward Bluemel appears as Jimmy Thesiger, and Nabhaan Rizwan takes on the role of Ronnie Devereux. The cast is rounded out by Alex Macqueen as George Lomax and Guy Siner as Tredwell.

The Creative Team Bringing the Story to Life

Chris Chibnall, the creator of the critically acclaimed series Broadchurch and former showrunner for Doctor Who, is the writer and executive producer. The series is directed by Chris Sweeney, known for his work on The Tourist.

The project is the first production for Suzanne Mackie‘s Orchid Pictures, the company she founded after serving as an executive producer on The Crown. Mackie expressed her enthusiasm for the project, stating:

“I am excited to be bringing Agatha Christie’s Seven Dials to life and to be introducing a new generation of iconic Christie characters to the screen. It has been a joy to work with Chris Chibnall in creating this bold, authored, and ambitious vision for the series.”

The production is a collaboration between Orchid Pictures, Chibnall’s company Imaginary Friends, and Agatha Christie Limited. The executive producers include Chibnall, Mackie, Sweeney, Chris Sussman, and James Prichard, the great-grandson of Agatha Christie.

Prichard shared his personal excitement about adapting this particular story, noting:

“Bundle Brent is one of my great-grandmother’s raft of interesting, humorous, and sharp young female characters. To see her brought to life through the words of Chris Chibnall and this production with Orchid Pictures and Netflix is a dream come true.”

Fan Excitement and What to Expect

The first trailer for the series was released in early November 2025, building significant anticipation among mystery lovers. The teaser begins ominously with a sundial and a dead body, setting the stage for a suspenseful drama. In the trailer, a man is heard declaring, “Someone in this room knows more than they are telling us,” hinting at the web of secrets Bundle must untangle.

Online reactions to the trailer have been largely positive, with viewers praising the casting and the show’s classic mystery feel. One fan commented, “This has the potential to be amazing. What a great cast,” while another added, “I am so happy to see more of Agatha Christie’s novels brought to life. I can’t wait to see this.” Some fans specifically expressed hope that the adaptation would do justice to the humorous and sharp character of Bundle Brent from the original novel.

Filming for the series took place during the summer of 2024 in Bristol and Bath in the UK, with additional filming in Ronda, Spain. All three episodes of this limited series will be available to stream on Netflix on January 15, 2026.
