The eighth episode of Nice To Not Meet You delivered a major turning point, finally revealing the true identity of the anonymous online pen pal at the center of the story. The climactic scene at N Seoul Tower left the main character, and viewers, reeling from a revelation that ties the show’s two central relationships into one.
A Complicated Web of Feelings
Im Hyeon-jun found himself torn between his growing feelings for two different women. In his real life, his interactions with reporter Hong Jeong-sin have become increasingly meaningful. He demonstrated his care for her in subtle ways, such as arranging for tables and chairs to be provided for her and other reporters who were forced to sit on the floor during a funeral event.
At the same time, Hyeon-jun continued his anonymous online conversations with “Soulishere,” a fan he met on the Onion app, whose messages brought him great comfort. Unbeknownst to him, these were two sides of the same person. Jeong-sin, who is “Soulishere,” was also experiencing conflicting emotions, feeling a connection to both the real-life Hyeon-jun and her anonymous chat partner, “Melomaster.”
The Impossible Choice
Jeong-sin decided to force the issue with her online friend. She sent a message to “Melomaster” proposing they meet in person to see if their virtual connection translated to real life. She gave him one week to decide, naming N Seoul Tower as their meeting spot at 8 PM.
This put Hyeon-jun in a difficult position. His fondness for Jeong-sin was growing, and he did not want to be disloyal to her by pursuing another relationship. He felt he needed to end things with his online fan to explore the potential with Jeong-sin. However, he was too nervous to face “Soulishere” himself.
In a desperate move, Hyeon-jun enlisted the help of his writer friend, Byeong-gi. He made a deal: he would agree to any script demand for his drama, Nice Detective Kang Pil-gu, if Byeong-gi would go to the meeting, pretend to be “Melomaster,” and gently reject “Soulishere” on his behalf. The costly price for this favor was Hyeon-jun’s agreement to perform a kiss scene with his co-star, Kwon Se-na.
The Tower Revelation
On the night of the meeting, the plan was set in motion. As Hyeon-jun watched from a hidden spot, Byeong-gi approached the waiting “Soulishere.” The moment of truth arrived when Hyeon-jun saw the woman his friend was walking toward was Hong Jeong-sin.
The episode ended on this cliffhanger, revealing the core misunderstanding that has driven the plot: Hyeon-jun and Jeong-sin have been falling for each other both in person and online, without ever realizing they were the same two people. This revelation throws Hyeon-jun’s proxy breakup plan into chaos, leaving his next move a complete mystery.

Beyond the central romance, other storylines advanced. Lee Dae-ho successfully orchestrated a merger between his company and Hyeon-jun’s agency, a move that appears to be part of a larger scheme. Additionally, the professional rivalry for an acting role continued, with Hyeon-jun using his influence to ensure the part went to the brother of his employee, Ji-sun, over a competing actor.
The episode successfully wove together humor, emotional turmoil, and long-awaited narrative payoff, setting the stage for significant consequences in the story to come.
