Lee Min Ho Shares Insight Into One of Pachinko 2’s Memorable Scenes
Actor Lee Min Ho recently shared a glimpse into the making of one of Pachinko Season 2’s most touching moments. As seen in the teaser, Koh Hansu, played by Lee Min Ho, attempts to teach Sunja, portrayed by Kim Min Ha, how to drive in a calm yet intimate scene. This moment happens against the backdrop of a Japanese paddy field, creating a subtle romantic tension that reflects the complex relationship between their characters.
The scene highlights the social and economic gap between Koh Hansu, a wealthy businessman, and Baek Sunja, who arrives in Japan with very little. As the characters navigate this difference, Hansu’s gentle guidance in the driving lesson serves as a metaphor for the power dynamics and unresolved feelings between the two.
Lee Min Ho’s Personal Connection to the Scene
In an exclusive chat ahead of the Pachinko Season 2 premiere, Lee Min Ho was asked if he had ever taught someone to drive in real life, to which he responded with a smile, “I did once teach a dongsaeng (younger friend) how to drive. I also taught someone to ski.” Laughing softly, he admitted that the memory made him feel warm inside.
Lee Min Ho reflected on the joy of sharing someone’s “first” experience, “Being with someone for their ‘first’ of anything is very meaningful. Teaching Sunja how to drive in that scene felt like one of those moments.”
A Romantic Undercurrent in Pachinko’s Complex Story
During the conversation, the actor was also asked to share his thoughts on the most romantic moment between Koh Hansu and Sunja. While season 2 is focused on the intricate storyline between the two characters, Lee Min Ho pointed to a scene from season 1 as the most romantic: “It was when Hansu and Sunja exchanged glances in the busy marketplace. That scene stood out because it marked a turning point in their relationship.”
Although Pachinko’s second season has fewer overtly romantic scenes, Lee Min Ho suggested that viewers pay attention to the subtleties. According to him, each intense exchange, every reunion, and even their conflicts are woven with a thread of unspoken affection.
