Hosts and Schedule for the 2024 BIFF
The 29th Busan International Film Festival will run from October 2 to October 11, showcasing a wide variety of films across different genres and categories. The presence of Park Bo Young, known for her roles in popular dramas and films, alongside Ahn Jae Hong, celebrated for his versatile acting skills, adds to the anticipation for the festival’s opening ceremony.
This year’s event will span 10 days, featuring a lineup of 279 films screened across 28 screens in seven theaters, including major venues like the Busan Cinema Center, CGV Centum City, and Lotte Cinema Centum City.
RM’s Documentary to Feature at BIFF
Adding to the excitement surrounding the festival, a documentary featuring K-pop idol RM from BTS will also be showcased. During a press conference held at the Seoul Chamber of Commerce on September 3, BIFF programmer Kang So Won disclosed that RM’s documentary, directed by Lee Seok Joon, was initially considered for the Wide Angle section, which is known for its diverse selection of short films, documentaries, animations, and experimental works. However, due to its unique artistic merit and widespread appeal, the documentary was ultimately selected for the Open Cinema section, a prestigious category that highlights new and internationally acclaimed films.
The documentary, titled Right Place, Wrong Person, chronicles the making of RM’s second solo album and provides an intimate look into the eight months leading up to his military enlistment. Released in May this year, the film offers fans and audiences an exclusive glimpse into RM’s artistic journey. Although RM is currently fulfilling his mandatory military service and is unlikely to attend the festival, the presence of other artists featured in the documentary is expected to add an engaging element to the event. Kang So Won highlighted that this marks only the second time a documentary has been selected for the Open Cinema section, underlining its significance and broad appeal.
