Actor Park Sung Hoon recently faced criticism after an inappropriate image appeared on his Instagram story. His agency, BH Entertainment, has now admitted their initial explanation about the incident was incorrect and provided a new explanation.
Initial Explanation and Public Reaction
Initially, BH Entertainment stated that Park Sung Hoon received the image, an adult video parody cover of Squid Game, through a direct message (DM) and accidentally shared it on his Instagram story. However, this explanation faced skepticism as Instagram’s interface requires users to save an image before sharing it from a DM. This led to public backlash and demands for a more accurate account.
Revised Explanation from BH Entertainment
BH Entertainment has now offered a revised explanation. They stated that Park Sung Hoon did receive the adult video parody cover through a DM. He considered the content problematic and wanted to report it to his company representative to prevent its further spread. In doing so, he downloaded and saved the image. The agency acknowledged that he should have directly sent the image to his manager and then deleted it from his device. Instead, he mistakenly posted it to his Instagram story.
The agency further explained why Park Sung Hoon felt the need to share it with his manager. They stated that he was concerned about the circulation of such material related to his work. “He thought it would be a problem that such strange things were floating around about his work,” BH Entertainment stated.
The Incident and Its Impact
On December 30, 2024, Park Sung Hoon‘s Instagram story briefly displayed a Japanese adult video parody cover of Squid Game. The cover featured adult actresses in an explicit setting. Although the story was quickly deleted, screenshots of it spread online. This led to criticism of Park Sung Hoon, with some labeling his actions as misogynistic and problematic.
