Just a day after announcing Ryan Hurst as the lead character Kratos, Amazon’s Prime Video has added another key actor to its cast. Teresa Palmer has been cast as the goddess Sif, an important figure from Norse mythology in the God of War story.
This casting news is the latest major step for the series, which has a two-season order from the streaming service. Production is gearing up in Vancouver, and more casting announcements are expected soon.

The series is under the guidance of an experienced creative team. Ronald D. Moore, the creator of shows like Outlander and For All Mankind, is the writer, showrunner, and executive producer. He took over the project in late 2024 after the original creative team departed.
Directing the first two episodes will be Frederick E.O. Toye, whose directing credits include episodes of major series like Shลgun and The Boys. The series is a co-production between Sony Pictures Television, Amazon MGM Studios, PlayStation Productions, and Moore’s own Tall Ship Productions.
The Storyline and What Fans Can Expect
The show’s story will follow the narrative path set by the 2018 God of War game and its 2022 sequel, Ragnarok. The official description focuses on the central relationship:
“Father and son Kratos and Atreus embark on a journey to spread the ashes of their wife and mother, Faye. Through their adventures, Kratos tries to teach his son to be a better god, while Atreus tries to teach his father how to be a better human.”
This confirms the series will explore the emotional core of Kratos’s journey as a parent, a theme that resonated deeply with players of the games. The search for the young actor to play Atreus is still underway.
