“I will get a grip.”
Singer PSY recently apologized to his fans and followers after facing strong “backlash” over his weight loss.
This week, many Korean netizens criticized the star’s appearance, accusing him of being “too thin.”
Earlier today, PSY took to Instagram to share a video of himself indulging in a meal of boiled pork. He accompanied the video with a sincere message about the feedback he received regarding his appearance.
After receiving harsh criticism for losing weight, and being told by a young man in Subong that I looked thin, and hearing from the audience at Daegu 1st Arena that I looked thin too, I devoured boiled pork with salted shrimp, kimchi, and peppers, mixing them with green onion and seasoning in a rage, until I couldn’t tell if it was broth or tears. I will get a grip.

The video shows PSY enjoying a hearty meal of gukbap (pork rice soup) and boiled pork at a well-known restaurant with a 50-year history. The post quickly garnered attention from netizens who still had plenty to say about his eating habits and appearance in the post’s comments.
Many kept the “weight management” joke going, emphasizing that while the phrase implies that most K-Pop artists have gained weight, for PSY, the standards are the opposite.
- “Since it’s Daegu Arena 2, you should get a second bowl of rice, too, right?”
- “If you keep going like this, you might collapse before you even get to Busan. Eat more, quickly, quickly.”
- “Your jawline shouldn’t be showing. Eat more. And after the Daegu concert, have some makchang (grilled intestines) with soju.”
- “That restaurant… it’s quite far from the concert venue, but you still went there~ haha.”
- “Sigh… eating just a piece of boiled pork at a time… trying to eat kimchi and pork together but ending up with only one… are you going to be able to perform like this? Please manage yourself properly… please ㅠㅠㅠㅠㅠ”
PSY’s upcoming concert, PSY SUMMER SWAG 2024, is set to take place in Daegu on July 13 and 14 at Daegu Stadium’s main arena.
