In a shocking turn of events, the Enforcement Directorate has initiated a money laundering case against Sameer Wankhede, the former Mumbai NCB zonal director. Wankhede, who rose to fame overnight for his involvement in the arrest of superstar Shah Rukh Khan’s son, Aryan Khan, is now under scrutiny for allegedly demanding a hefty bribe of Rs 25 crore from the Bollywood icon.
The controversy surrounding Wankhede began when Aryan Khan was apprehended in connection with a drug case in 2021. Amidst widespread speculation and media frenzy, reports emerged accusing Wankhede of seeking bribes from Shah Rukh Khan to spare his son from legal repercussions. Last year, the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) launched an inquiry into these allegations, and now, the Enforcement Directorate has stepped in with a money laundering case.
The Enforcement Directorate’s decision stems from the purported bribe demand linked to the Aryan Khan case. According to reports, the agency has invoked the Prevention of Money Laundering Act and summoned several former Narcotics Control Bureau officials alongside Wankhede. In response to these developments, Wankhede has reportedly sought protection from the Bombay High Court to prevent any coercive actions by the anti-money laundering agency.
