Seth Rogen experienced a career-high night at the 77th Primetime Emmy Awards, winning four awards for his hit Apple TV+ series, “The Studio.” The actor and creator took home trophies for Lead Actor in a Comedy Series, Outstanding Directing, Outstanding Writing, and as a producer for Outstanding Comedy Series. During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live, Rogen opened up about the surreal experience of going from zero Emmys to four in a single evening.

Historic Emmy Sweep for a Freshman Comedy

At the awards ceremony held on September 14, 2025, “The Studio” delivered a record-breaking performance. The show, which Rogen co-created, won a total of 13 Emmy awards from its 23 nominations. This set a new record for the most wins by a comedy series in a single season. The show’s victories included major categories like Outstanding Comedy Series, Directing, Writing, and Lead Actor, alongside technical awards for casting, production design, and sound.

In his acceptance speech for Outstanding Comedy Series, Rogen expressed his genuine surprise and gratitude. โ€œThank you. Itโ€™s getting embarrassing. I really appreciate it,โ€ he began. He went on to say, โ€œIn all honesty, Iโ€™ll do my best attempt at sincerity here. If you watched our show, if you appreciated our show, if you voted for our show especially, thank you very much. Iโ€™m legitimately embarrassed by how happy this makes me.โ€ Rogen also shared the honor with his team, stating, โ€œTo be standing up here with all of these peopleโ€”these are the best people I know. And to have them spend their days with me, working with me, is truly one of the great honors of my life.โ€

A Candid Conversation on Jimmy Kimmel Live

Promoting his new movie, Good Fortune, Rogen appeared on Jimmy Kimmel Live and talked about his multiple wins. He described the experience as “lovely” and shared a humorous story about his childhood desire for a trophy. Since he never won one as a kid, his parents took him to an estate sale where he bought a used bowling trophy.

On the show, Rogen talked about how his “ego got carried away” during the winning streak but he quickly kept himself grounded. He joked that he remembered celebrity chef Guy Fieri has “like 40 Emmys” and that an Emmy, while important, “is not the Oscar.”

the Award-Winning Show “The Studio”

“The Studio” is a satire set in Hollywood that premiered on Apple TV+ in March 2025. Rogen plays Matt Remick, a man who becomes the new head of a struggling film production company called Continental Studios. The show follows his struggle to create quality movies while also meeting the corporate demands of the company. The series is known for its clever satire, long takes, and numerous celebrity cameos.

The show was renewed for a second season in May 2025, even before its first season concluded. For the new season, Oscar-winner Sarah Polley will join the writers’ room. Rogen mentioned she is “hilarious” and has a lot of “insight.” In a interesting note, Rogen and his creative partner Evan Goldberg have said they don’t see the show as a strict satire. They feel that instead of taking a serious subject and making it funny, the series takes an “inherently trivial” world and adds dramatic “stakes” to it.

Long-Awaited Recognition for Seth Rogen

For Seth Rogen, the Emmy for Lead Actor was his first major television award. When accepting his acting award, he told the audience he had prepared nothing to say. โ€œIโ€™ve never won anything in my life,โ€ Rogen said. โ€œWhen I was a kid, I bought a used bowling trophy at an estate sale, and my parents were like, โ€˜Yeah thatโ€™s a good idea, you should probably buy that.โ€™โ€ He ended his speech simply, saying, โ€œI donโ€™t know what to say. This is so nice.โ€

This win ended the two-year streak of Jeremy Allen White from “The Bear.” “The Studio” itself beat out other popular comedies like “Abbott Elementary,” “The Bear,” “Hacks,” and “Only Murders in the Building” for the top prize. The show’s 13 total Emmy wins cement its place as a major new force in television comedy.
