In a controversy stirring up the K-pop world, a manager previously working with NewJeans has accused ADOR CEO Kim Yoo Jung of workplace bullying. The allegations have emerged amidst ongoing legal battles between the girl group and their agency.
Manager Details Harassment and Alleged Confinement
According to a report from Channel A News, the manager, identified as Manager A, claimed they were issued an unexpected standby notice by ADOR. They were also ordered to submit their work laptop immediately. When Manager A attempted to leave work, the agency allegedly forced them to remain confined until the laptop was returned, a move the manager described as illegal.
Manager A further alleged that ADOR demanded access to their personal cell phone, despite no legal grounds for such a request. They stated:
“All work-related data was already backed up on the company drive, and I deliberately refrained from storing any information on my personal laptop to avoid issues.”
Even after Manager A formatted their laptop, ADOR reportedly initiated an investigation and suggested using it as grounds for disciplinary action.
Accusations of Workplace Harassment
These allegations are not isolated. Other staff members who worked closely with NewJeans also claimed they were subjected to harassment by the agency. The accusations gained momentum following NewJeans’ recent announcement of their intent to terminate their exclusive contract with ADOR, which cited the agency’s failure to protect the group’s interests.
ADOR Responds
In response to the allegations, ADOR stated that they were unaware of such claims, adding:
“We will faithfully respond if we receive notification about an investigation.”
Legal Battle Between ADOR and NewJeans
This incident is unfolding alongside a legal dispute between ADOR and NewJeans. On November 28, NewJeans announced their decision to terminate their contract, alleging a breach of agreement and insufficient protection from the agency.
ADOR, however, refuted these claims and insisted the contract remains valid. The agency has since filed a lawsuit to confirm the exclusivity of the agreement.
As of now, NewJeans remains firm in their decision to part ways with ADOR and pursue independence, while the controversy continues to escalate.
