Actor Song Joong Ki recently shared his candid thoughts on the current state of the movie industry during a promotional event for his film, Bogota.

Actors Discuss the Current State of the Movie Industry

On January 12, a GV session (a Q&A with the director or actors and fans) for the movie Bogota took place at a movie theater. Actors Song Joong Ki and Lee Hee Joon were present, with Lee Sung Min appearing as a special guest.

Lee Sung Min began by addressing the difficulties the movie industry faces. He expressed his disappointment at seeing an empty parking lot at the theater, indicating low attendance. He acknowledged that there could be several reasons for this, but emphasized the hardship actors face when their films don’t draw audiences. He stated,

When I arrived here, it broke my heart to see that the parking lot was empty. It seems like not many people are at the theater. There must be reasons, but it’s hard for actors without an audience in the theater. Especially when a movie is released, we feel like dying.

He added that this is a reality actors must confront:

However, this is something that actors have to endure. Please give us strength so that our movie can finish well until the end.

As Lee Sung Min stated, Korean movies are having a difficult time these days. I’m honestly thankful that our movie is even showing in theaters right now. I’ve been working harder than ever to get our movie promoted. The movie industry is challenging, but it’s our role to create quality content that will comfort the audience, make them laugh during difficult times, and give them strength.

While making this statement, Song Joong Ki became emotional, his voice breaking slightly. He then added,

I’m tearing up a bit while talking. Anyway, thank you.
