Taylor Momsen spoke about her dating life on the “Call Her Daddy” podcast, giving fans a clear idea of what she looks for in a relationship. She described herself as a very trusting but also very guarded person, meaning that letting someone into her life is a significant step.
“Anyone I let into my life—in any form of a relationship—there’s a life bond there,” she shared.
She is not interested in short-term flings and is instead focused on finding a deep and meaningful connection. She stated she is “looking for something that has depth to it. That is filling something that I need in my life.”
When it comes to specific qualities, Momsen was direct. She wants someone who is smart, kind, and funny.
“Gotta be funny, gotta make me laugh,” she said.
However, she revealed one major deal-breaker that is non-negotiable: musical taste. For a relationship to work for her, sharing similar music preferences is essential. She simply stated, “We have to have the same musical taste or that’s just not gonna work. That’s just not gonna work at all.”
Learning from Past Dating Experiences
Momsen also talked about lessons learned from her past. She revealed that she went through a phase where she dated people who were not genuinely interested in her, but were instead drawn to her fame.
She explained that she has no patience for anyone who “isn’t interested in me or me,” and recalled dating men who “were interested in what I had to give them and what I had to offer them, especially around the [Gossip Girl].”
“I’m talking about people who were in the industry at the time but weren’t necessarily as successful,” Momsen added, “and using me for something other than myself.”
This experience has made her more careful about who she allows into her personal life.

In a lighter moment, Momsen recently shared a story about her first childhood crush and the heartbreak that followed. On the “Podcrushed” podcast, she recalled meeting “Supernatural” star Jared Padalecki on a red carpet when she was younger.
“I went up and I was like, ‘He’s gonna fall in love with me. I’m in love with him. How can he not fall in love with me?’” she shared. “And I went up to him and said ‘Hi,’ and he was so tall, and I had to look way up. He was nice, but he didn’t love me back, so that was my first love, my first heartbreak all in one fell swoop.”
Her Focus on Music After “Gossip Girl”
Momsen’s personal revelations came during an interview where she also reflected on her decision to leave the hit TV show “Gossip Girl” to focus on her music career with The Pretty Reckless. She described wanting to leave the show as an “easy decision” for her personally, but getting out of her contract was a difficult battle.
She said that studio executives called her “ungrateful” for wanting to leave the successful series.
“It was a very long battle of me arguing with everyone and going, ‘Get me outta this. I can’t do this anymore. This is killing me. I have something else I want to do with my life and it has nothing to do with this and I can’t be stuck here anymore,’” Momsen explained.
She ultimately credits the show’s creators, Stephanie Savage and Josh Schwartz, for writing her character out of the show so she could pursue her passion for music.
According to recent reports, Taylor Momsen is currently single. Over the years, rumors have linked her to several celebrities, including her “Gossip Girl” co-star Chace Crawford, Skandar Keynes, Jack Osbourne, and guitarist Natt Weller, though none of these rumored relationships were ever officially confirmed.
