The race to the final three got tense as the four remaining teams touched down in the City of Light. During the penultimate episode of The Amazing Race 38, the contestants faced challenges inspired by French culture and history, from dancing at the iconic Moulin Rouge to typing in Braille . The night, however, concluded with the seasonโs biggest unanswered question, leaving fans to wait another week to see which teamโs journey ends just short of the finale .
The Penultimate Leg Kicks Off in Paris
The episode, which aired on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, began with the teams leaving their previous Pit Stop . Host Phil Keoghan gave each team a phone and instructed them to use the Expedia app to book their own flights and a hotel package to Paris, France . This led to a rare equalizer, as all four teamsโbrothers Jas and Jag Bains, brothers Joseph and Adam Abdin, engaged couple Izzy Gleicher and Paige Seber, and dating partners Kyland Young and Taylor Haleโmanaged to get on the exact same flight to Paris .
Upon landing, their first destination was the world-famous Moulin Rouge cabaret .
A High-Kicking Challenge at the Moulin Rouge
At the Moulin Rouge, teams discovered their first major task: they had to learn and perfectly perform the legendary cancan dance alongside the venueโs professional dancers . Joseph and Adam arrived first but quickly found that being first did not mean an easy win. The showโs official synopsis for the episode was titled โThe Canโt Canโt,โ a playful nod to the teamsโ initial struggles with the choreography .
โThey said it was the canโt canโt, not the cancan,โ one source noted about Jas and Jagโs first failed attempt at the dance .
The challenge tested rhythm, coordination, and patience. Jas and Jag were the first to conquer the dance on their second try . Kyland and Taylor, who arrived last due to traffic, managed to move up to second place by completing the routine on their third attempt . Izzy and Paige passed on their fifth try, while Joseph and Adam, who were first to start, ended up departing in last place after six attempts .
A Test of Precision with a Braille Typewriter
After the dance, teams raced to Notre-Dame Cathedral for their next clue, which directed them to the Institut national des jeunes jeunes aveugles (National Institute for Young Blind People) for a Roadblock task . One team member had to learn to use a Braille typewriter to accurately transcribe a full page of an English poem into Braille .
The typewriter had only nine keys, and the rule was strict: a single mistake meant starting the entire page over . Jas chose to do the task for his team and adopted a slow, methodical approach.
His careful strategy was so slow that โthe judges for the task began drifting offโ and even went to get coffee while waiting for him to finish .
His patience paid off, and he completed the task before any other team even arrived at the location . Back at the institute, the other three teamsโTaylor, Joseph, and Izzyโraced against the clock and their own nerves. Taylor finished second, securing her and Kylandโs position . Joseph, thinking of his mother who once had to learn Braille, worked slowly and carefully, ultimately passing the challenge . Izzy faced the most difficulty, having to restart multiple times after small errors, which left her team in last place as they finally left for the next challenge .
The Final Scramble and a Nail-Biting Finish
The next clue revealed a Parisian Scramble. Teams had to travel to three different Statues of Liberty located around Parisโat Pont de Grenelle, Jardin du Luxembourg, and the Musรฉe des Arts et Mรฉtiersโto collect a puzzle piece from each . When assembled, the puzzle would reveal the location of the Pit Stop for this leg .
Jas and Jag, maintaining a strong lead, collected all three pieces first. They solved the puzzle, which pointed them to the Place du Trocadรฉro as the Pit Stop . They ran to the mat and checked in as the first-place team for the fourth leg in a row, winning a trip to Fiji for their efforts .
Kyland and Taylor secured their spot in the finale by checking in as team number two . This set up a direct showdown for the third and final spot in the finale between Izzy and Paige and Joseph and Adam. The episode ended on a dramatic โTo Be Continuedโ cliffhanger, with both teams shown in separate taxis, racing toward the Pit Stop . Their final placement and the seasonโs last elimination will be revealed at the start of the two-hour season finale.
