President Calhoun immediately announced martial law. He deputized superheroes all across the nation. These Supe officers now report directly to Homelander. This “Joe” voice makes Butcher more violent and angry. Because Ryan (Cameron Crovetti) accidentally killed Grace Mallory , Butcher stopped caring about saving people.
He grabbed the only vial of the Supe-killing virus left. Butcher does not just want to kill Homelander anymore. He wants to kill every Supe on the planet. This puts him directly against Starlight and Kimiko , who are technically Supes too. Karl Urban described Homelander ’s goal for the final season, saying the villain wants to be a god. But Butcher is the only one willing to burn everything down to stop him.
Soldier Boy’s Return and the Post-Credits Scene
The Season 4 finale had a secret scene after the credits that changed everything. President Calhoun was shown keeping Soldier Boy (Jensen Ackles) in a regulated coma. The hero from the 1980s was not dead. He was just asleep. Soldier Boy is the only person whose power can cancel out other Supes’ abilities. He is also Homelander ’s father. Bringing him back means there is now a weapon that can actually hurt Homelander , but it is in the hands of the government that works for Homelander.
Jensen Ackles returns as a series regular for Season 5.
