The first look at the final battle is here. Prime Video has released the first official posters for The Boys Season 5, giving fans a stark preview of the endgame for Billy Butcher and Homelander. The two new key art pieces, revealed on December 3, 2025, set a dramatic tone for the show’s last season, which is scheduled to arrive in 2026. The posters are tagged with the ominous phrase: “Scorched earth. Shock and awe. Blood and bone”.
With the main series concluding, these images kick off the countdown to the finale. The show’s panel at the CCXP fan convention in Brazil on December 6 is widely expected to bring the first teaser trailer and more news.
What The New Season 5 Posters Reveal
The two posters focus solely on the central conflict that has driven the entire series. One image shows Karl Urban’s Billy Butcher standing defiantly amid the shattered wreckage of what appears to be Vought Tower, his trusted crowbar in hand. This scene suggests Butcher may finally achieve his long-standing goal of destroying the Supe corporation, but at a tremendous cost. The setting directly contrasts with Season 4’s ending, which saw Butcher isolated and his team captured.
The companion poster presents an even more terrifying vision. Antony Starr’s Homelander is depicted floating in space, gazing down at a planet Earth dotted with massive explosions. The image implies Homelander’s total control has escalated to a global, apocalyptic scale. Some observers note the explosions appear concentrated over the United States, with speculation they could target Iowa, the home state of Annie January (Starlight), as a brutal demonstration of his power.
The Final Season’s Story and Scale
Season 5 is confirmed to be the series’ last chapter. Showrunner Eric Kripke stated he always envisioned a five-season story, arguing that the show needed to reach its conclusion after the events of the Season 4 finale. He has described the final season as the “show’s version of the apocalypse” and promised a “super big, apocalyptic” scale where no character is safe.
“I think the real thing to look out for in season 5โฆ there’s going to be some big hits early on in the very first episode,” said star Karl Urban. “That’s probably what is going to make you realize, ‘Oh, this is for real.’ The stakes couldn’t be higher, and anybody’s fair game.”
Kripke has explained that a major theme of the final season is the struggle to hold onto humanity in the face of absolute power and vengeance. The story picks up about six months after the events of Gen V Season 2, and will incorporate elements from that spin-off.
Returning Cast and New Additions
The full main cast is returning for the final showdown. This includes Jack Quaid as Hughie, Erin Moriarty as Starlight, Jessie T. Usher as A-Train, Laz Alonso as Mother’s Milk, Chace Crawford as The Deep, Karen Fukuhara as Kimiko, and Tom Capone as Frenchie.
The season also features significant returns and new arrivals. Jensen Ackles will be back as Soldier Boy for a major role, with Kripke noting the show will explore the unresolved “father-son” dynamic between Soldier Boy and Homelander. Jeffrey Dean Morgan also returns as Joe Kessler. In a major reunion for Kripke, who created Supernatural, actors from that series are joining the fray. Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins are confirmed for Season 5, alongside Ackles. New cast member Daveed Diggs will also appear.

When to Expect the Trailer and Release
While the exact premiere date in 2026 is not yet set, the next big reveal is imminent. The marketing campaign is starting now with these posters, and the next step is likely the first trailer. All signs point to its debut during The Boys’ panel at CCXP in Sรฃo Paulo, Brazil, on Saturday, December 6. This follows the pattern of previous seasons, where the first trailer was unveiled at the same event.
Production on Season 5 finished filming in mid-2025. In a late October 2025 update, Kripke shared that editing was complete and the team was halfway through post-production work on visual effects, music, and color grading. He stated the season was “coming (reasonably) soon”. Based on the release patterns of Seasons 3 and 4, which premiered in June, fans can likely expect the final season to follow a similar summer 2026 schedule on Prime Video.
The first episode of the final season is titled “Fifteen Inches of Sheer Dynamite”.
