Fans might finally get the first major look at the final season of The Boys next week. After the show finished filming in July 2025, the official marketing campaign is set to begin, with a major panel scheduled that could reveal the first trailer and potentially more release details.
The fifth and final season of the hit Amazon Prime Video series is confirmed for a 2026 release. While an exact premiere date is not yet official, speculation points to a potential summer launch, consistent with previous seasons.
Production Wrapped, Marketing Begins
Filming for the fifth season concluded on July 1, 2025, with showrunner Eric Kripke sharing an emotional farewell to the set on social media. Post-production work is now in its final stages.
In late October 2025, Kripke provided a significant update on the show’s progress, stating that editing was complete and the team was roughly halfway through completing visual effects, music, and color grading. He confirmed the final season was “COMING (reasonably) SOON” and promised the show would “go out with a bang.”
CCXP Panel Hints at Big Reveals
The biggest clue for an imminent news drop is the official The Boys panel at CCXP in Brazil on Saturday, December 6, 2025. This major comic convention has historically been where Amazon Prime Video chooses to debut first looks for the show.
During the CCXP panel in December 2023, the studio debuted the first trailer for Season 4. While a specific release date for that season was not confirmed until later, the event served as the kickoff for the marketing campaign. This precedent strongly suggests that attendees and viewers online will get their first glimpse of Season 5 footage during the upcoming panel.
What We Know About the Final Season
The final season will bring back all the key characters for one last stand. Karl Urban returns as Billy Butcher, who is now on the run with the Supe-killing virus and more determined than ever to take down Homelander. Antony Starr is back as the unhinged superhero Homelander, who has become the de facto ruler of the United States.
The cast also includes Jack Quaid as Hughie, Erin Moriarty as Starlight, and Jessie T. Usher as A-Train. In a major confirmation from San Diego Comic-Con 2024, Jensen Ackles will return as Soldier Boy and will be a series regular in the final season. Showrunner Eric Kripke explained the decision, noting they wanted to further explore the father-son dynamic between Soldier Boy and Homelander.
The season will also feature significant crossover cameos from the cast of the spin-off show Gen V. The season 2 finale of Gen V showed its main characters—including Jaz Sinclair as Marie Moreau and Lizze Broadway as Emma Meyer—being recruited into Starlight’s growing resistance movement.
“There will be some crossover with The Boys Season 5,” Kripke said. “As you see by the way [Gen V Season 2] ends, a rebellion is growing… and the Gen V kids are a part of that resistance.”
New faces joining the cast include Mason Dye as the supe Bombsight and Daveed Diggs in an undisclosed role. In a treat for fans of Kripke’s previous show, Supernatural, actors Jared Padalecki and Misha Collins will also appear, reuniting them with their former co-star Jensen Ackles.

A Grand Finale is Promised
Eric Kripke and the cast have promised an epic conclusion to the series. Kripke has described the final season as the “show’s version of the apocalypse” and has acknowledged the pressure to deliver a satisfying ending. He has also hinted that no character is safe in the final season, as the story does not need to save anyone for a future year.
“I always look at it as of the five seasons, we’re kind of at that point, that’s sort of the end of the second act of a movie where everyone’s really at their low point,” Kripke said in an interview. “Now, [The Boys] need to really come together in the fifth season and save the world.”
With the CCXP panel just days away, fans should be prepared for the first official trailer and potentially more concrete information about the long-awaited final chapter of The Boys.
