A new psychological drama called The Family Secret is now filming and will make its way to screens in 2026. The series, scheduled to air on the UK’s 5 network, features a star-studded cast and a plot that asks a haunting question: what if your past isn’t what you think it is?

The series centers on Amanda Blakefield, played by Eleanor Tomlinson. Her character’s life is happy and settled with her husband, Jimmy, portrayed by Matthew Lewis, and their young son, Luke. This peaceful existence is shattered when Amanda receives an enormous inheritance from a complete stranger. This mysterious event pulls her into the world of the wealthy Worrall family, forcing her to uncover long-buried truths that threaten to destroy her reality.
The cast includes several well-known faces. Denis Lawson plays Martin Worrall, the patriarch of the secret-bound family. The ensemble also features Rebecca Front as Martin’s wife, Fiona, and Callum Woodhouse as their son, Anthony. The lineup is rounded out by Stephen Tompkinson, Paula Wilcox, Danielle Walters, and Nina Wadia.

The Family Secret is a four-part mystery series produced by Lonesome Pine Productions, the company behind other 5 dramas like The Inheritance and The Feud. The series is written by Aschlin Ditta and directed by Andy de Emmony.
The production is currently filming across various locations in the North East of England. Paul Testar, the Commissioning Editor for 5, expressed his enthusiasm for the project, highlighting its compelling narrative.

When and Where to Watch
The Family Secret is set to premiere on 5 in 2026. The network is part of the Paramount family, though it has not yet been officially confirmed if the series will also be available on the Paramount+ streaming service in the UK.
