Netflix announced the renewal for a fifth season of The Lincoln Lawyer on January 28, 2026, just one week before the fourth season is scheduled to premiere. The early pickup shows the streaming service’s strong confidence in the popular legal drama starring Manuel Garcia-Rulfo. Fans will not have to wait long for the next chapter, as Season 4 arrives on Netflix on February 5, 2026.
The show’s producers shared their excitement about continuing the story. Co-showrunners Ted Humphrey and Dailyn Rodriguez said, “We’re so excited to share the upcoming fourth season with the audience on February 5th, and even more excited to share the news that we’re already hard at work on the next one”. They described the upcoming season as a major test for the main character, adding, “Season Four is the most challenging and intensely personal journey we’ve taken Mickey Haller on yet”.
What to Expect in The Lincoln Lawyer Season 4
Season 4 picks up directly from the dramatic cliffhanger that ended Season 3. Defense attorney Mickey Haller finds himself on the wrong side of the law after being framed for murder. The body of his former client, Sam Scales, was discovered in the trunk of Mickey’s iconic Lincoln Town Car.
For the first time, the lawyer must become the defendant. The new season, inspired by Michael Connelly’s novel The Law of Innocence, follows Mickey and his team as they fight to clear his name. To do this, they must uncover Sam Scales’ final scam, a mission that brings them into conflict with the district attorney’s office, the FBI, and figures from Mickey’s own past.
Mickey faces a formidable opponent in court: prosecutor Dana Berg, played by Constance Zimmer. Known by the nickname “Death Row Dana,” Berg is described as a relentless and ruthless lawyer who bends rules to secure guilty verdicts. The season will also introduce several new characters. Cobie Smulders joins the cast in an undisclosed role, while Fiona Rene plays FBI Agent Dawn Ruth.
Confirmed Plans for The Lincoln Lawyer Season 5
Netflix has confirmed that the newly ordered Season 5 will consist of 10 episodes. The season will adapt Michael Connelly’s seventh Lincoln Lawyer novel, Resurrection Walk, which was published in 2023.
The book’s story sees Mickey Haller focusing on long-shot cases, specifically working to free people who have been wrongfully convicted. After a successful exoneration, his office is flooded with letters from incarcerated people claiming innocence. He then works with his half-brother, retired LAPD Detective Harry Bosch, to find a credible case among the many requests.
This plot point creates a notable question for the TV adaptation. The character of Harry Bosch is the star of his own separate television series, which has aired on Amazon. This situation involving different streaming platforms complicates a direct crossover. It is not yet clear how the Netflix series will handle this key relationship from the book.
The Core Cast Returning for New Seasons
The main team from Haller & Associates is set to return for both the upcoming seasons. Alongside Manuel Garcia-Rulfo as Mickey Haller, the returning cast includes:
- Neve Campbell as Maggie McPherson, Mickey’s first ex-wife and a prosecutor.
- Becki Newton as Lorna Crane, Mickey’s second ex-wife and his office manager.
- Jazz Raycole as Izzy Letts, Mickey’s driver and a paralegal student.
- Angus Sampson as Cisco Wojciechowski, an investigator and Lorna’s fiancรฉ.
Cobie Smulders, who is new for Season 4, is also confirmed to return for Season 5. Other actors from Season 4, such as Krista Warner as Mickey’s daughter Hayley and Elliott Gould as Legal Siegel, are expected to reprise their roles.

The Show’s Successful Record on Netflix
The early renewal for The Lincoln Lawyer is a direct result of its strong performance on Netflix. Since its debut in 2022, the show has been a consistent hit with subscribers. According to Netflix data, the series has accumulated 171 million views over its first three seasons. A “view” on Netflix is calculated as the total hours watched divided by the show’s total runtime.
The series has repeatedly appeared in Netflix’s Global Top 10 list, spending a total of 26 weeks there across its first three seasons. This consistent popularity made the decision to renew the show for a fifth season an easy one for Netflix executives.
Filming for the fifth season is scheduled to begin in March 2026 in Los Angeles. While no target release date has been announced, past season releases suggest a premiere could happen in late 2026 or 2027. Season 1 debuted in May 2022, Season 2 arrived in mid-2023, Season 3 premiered in October 2024, and Season 4 is set for February 2026.
