After a three-episode premiere, the new Critical Role animated series on Prime Video is moving to a weekly schedule. Episode 4, titled “The Mighty Nein,” is set to release on Wednesday, November 26, 2025. The episode will be available for streaming at midnight GMT on Prime Video. For viewers in the United States, this translates to a release at 12:00 a.m. Pacific Time.

The shift to a weekly format means fans will get a new episode every Wednesday. The first season is planned for a total of eight episodes, with the finale expected on December 24, 2025. Episode 4 continues the show’s pattern of longer runtimes, with episodes ranging from 42 to 48 minutes.

Where to Watch The Mighty Nein

The Mighty Nein is an exclusive series available only on Amazon Prime Video. To watch, you need an active Prime Video subscription. A standalone Prime Video membership in the U.S. costs $8.99 per month, while a full Amazon Prime subscription is $14.99 per month or $139 per year. Once released, the new episode will appear in the show’s section on the platform.

Story Recap and Episode 4 Predictions

The first three episodes introduced the ragtag group of characters and set their adventure in motion. The story is set on the continent of Wildemount, two decades after the events of The Legend of Vox Machina. The world is tense with political strife between the Dwendalian Empire and the Kryn Dynasty, centered on a powerful magical relic known as “the Beacon.”

Episode 3, “The Fletching & Moondrop Traveling Carnival of Curiosities,” ended with major chaos. A dangerous Devil Toad creature broke loose, turning carnival-goers into monsters. The episode concluded with the carnival in ruins and the central characters scattered, in danger, or under arrest for the destruction.

Based on these events, Episode 4 will likely focus on the consequences. The group will need to find a way to clear their names and escape their current predicament. The title of the episode, “The Mighty Nein,” strongly suggests that this is the moment the disparate group officially forms their party and chooses their name. The search for Toya, a young carnival performer who went missing in the chaos, might also be a key plot point.

The show has earned a perfect 100% score on Rotten Tomatoes from early critical reviews. Travis Willingham, CEO of Critical Role Productions, explained the decision for longer episodes was due to fan feedback on their first series. He stated that the longer format provides “a little bit more road, a little more runway” to tell the story without rushing the pace.

“We were trying to cram so much stuff into these twelve-episode seasons and because of that, a lot of the feedback that we got was like, ‘Man, the pace is so fast. I wish it would just take a breath.’ And we feel the same way.”

A Connected World of Stories

For fans eager for more backstory, The Mighty Nein Origins graphic novels are being adapted into a vertical scroll comic on WEBTOON. The series, which launched on November 23, 2025, delves into the pasts of individual characters, starting with Jester Lavorre. This provides deeper context for the characters’ motivations and histories seen in the animated show.

The voice cast for the series includes Laura Bailey, Matthew Mercer, Ashley Johnson, Taliesin Jaffe, Liam O’Brien, Marisha Ray, Sam Riegel, and Travis Willingham. They are joined by guest stars including Alan Cumming, Mark Strong, Ming-Na Wen, and Lucy Liu.

The main characters are Caleb Widogast, a human wizard haunted by his past; Nott the Brave, a clever goblin rogue; Fjord Stone, a half-orc with magical powers; Beauregard “Beau” Lionett, a determined human monk; Jester Lavorre, a mischievous tiefling cleric; Mollymauk “Molly” Tealeaf, a flamboyant tiefling from the carnival; and Yasha Nydoorin, an aasimar barbarian with a complicated history.
